I'm so so so sick and tired of people, ESPECIALLY on ATS with all of their "where are the moderate muslims" and "why don't peaceful muslims speak out against radical Islam", and when I'm right here in your face, and when I respond to your request for a voice, you tell me I'm LYING TO PROTECT MY FAITH! You don't want a muslim to speak out against radicals, you just want another muslim CO-SIGNING THEIR ACTIONS! I'm considering leaving ATS because for a community of open minded people, there are surely a LOT of close minded individuals here. And based on the amount of stars and flags THEY get I'd say the number keeps growing. I OPPOSE RADICALS OF ANY FAITH. I oppose violence, especially violence in the name of God. Now, lets see how many people say I'm lying...

It may seem like a lot on here but do not listen to them or let them bother you, small minority who like to listen to their own voices and hide behind a keyboard, the world is a big place my freind and Ats is but a grain of sand on a very large beach. I for one believe you.

To the op, much agreed. I hate bigotry of any sense and it just so happens that the machine needs a scapegoat to paint an ugly picture of in order to meet an agenda. That's why in this day of age I always speak out against bigotry and prejudice and especially for Muslims. As a student of philsophy I can stand to see hypocrites preaching freedom and equality rhetoric while they say Muslims are evil. Don't they just contradict themselves.

People in all fields will always come across bigotry in some sense and just because ATS is open for "alternative topics" it doesn't necessarily mean that bigots won't appear and believe me, they do appear on ATS everyday but they won't admit and will go to the grave defended their right to be prejudice

I for one will take your word for it. Thank you for standing up and declaring that you are a Muslim opposed to extremist Muslim philosophy and actions.

S&F for you.

Now please get your leaders to support you and say the same things.

I have nothing against Islam, I have spent two years of my life in Muslim countries and have good memories of my time spent with those of the Islamic faith, but your leaders need to step up and help stop the violence. They could if they wanted to, but they don't.

If I call you a liar, are you going to get violent and/or radical? Doesn't Islam teach that you can lie in order to save your hide?

If you are fazed by the ignorant then they have won the fight. Unfortunately human nature has let us down again. Rather then fighting against the repressors people prefer to blame it on someone with a different culture to them. There's nothing you can do brother, but keep letting them call you a terrorist and keep telling them you are all about peace and love.

Yep, pretty much agree with everything you said.

Unfortunately sane sensible truths don't really make as good a story (or get as many flags) as some lunatic quote from a rent a rant Muslim cleric intent on stirring up trouble for everyone.

I disagree with many things in the Koran, I also disagree with many things in the bible I like to believe in the basic goodness of human nature though, however many times it tries to prove me wrong

That is an ideal only taught in the Shi'a sect of Islam. The Qur'an is where it's at for me, and it clearly states that lying under any circumstance is a sin. You know just like Jesus taught us not to lie? Yes I say US because I regard Jesus in a high place. Jesus is, according to my teachings, among the greatest of God's prophets. But you don't have to take my word for anything...

Hi there fellow jack, i agree with you and believe the OP. To the OP, its necessary for you to go to your Imans and tell them how you feel, these are the guys with the power, enough of this, radicals of all religions are not to be tolerated, look at Westboro Baptist Church, having said that ive yet to meet an evil buddhist, lol,

I OPPOSE RADICALS OF ANY FAITH.

And I oppose faith of any radicals too.
There are both peaceful and radical people in many religions. I prefer no religion, it just puts labels on people, puts them in a box of sorts. Religion has caused many wars, and been used as an excuse for many more. It divides people, makes people fight with each other. Often they both have the same argument, and religion makes them blind to that fact. Everybody thinks their god can kick the crap out of the other person's god, it's so ridiculous. If there's a God, its probably the same one!
If there was no religion labels, and people looked at what could be/might be, with more of a curiousity than a certainty, because really, who knows for absolute certainty that they're totally right, people would get along much better.

I believe you're peaceful, and I don't blame you for being upset about people's prejudices.

Funny thing is I agree with you when it comes to the fact that the labels divide. However there have been periods in history when the labels didn't divide. I have studied many faiths and it's hilarious to me that Jews, Christians, and Muslims all acknowledge that these are the 3 Abrahamic faiths yet act like the God is different. If we come from the same "family" of religions, then obviously it's the SAME GOD. I believe we all worship the same God, just in different forms, so therefore who am I to oppose the method, or idea which you subscribe to in serving OUR God?? Stop the violence!!

Do you believe in Sharia Law?
Are you a man or a woman?
Do you believe a womans testimony is worth less than a mans?
Do you agree with the practice of female genital mutilation?

My friendship with Muslims proves to me you are not lying.

I suppose your problem is much like a moderate Christians, the extremists get in the way.

I don't know about the US but here in the UK it is becoming more and more secular, belief in organised religion is on the decrease, other than tarring all Muslims with the extremist brush which is obviously wrong, like any other 'religious' faction you should expect a lot of derision.

I'm a male. Do I believe in sharia law? I cannot say I do due to the simple fact that it has been twisted and changed, I'm a follower of the Qur'an first and foremost which some muslims fail to realize is the way to go. Sharia law is not mentioned anywhere in the Qur'an. There are various laws in the Qur'an just as there are in the Bible and Torah, but this system of government is in my opinion 100% political. It has no real religious backing.

As for my view on women, I feel that women are the jewel of human kind. A womans testimony weighing less than a mans was a practice of old Arabia which got 'integrated' into various sects of Islam, which is one of the main reasons I don't follow any sect at all. Those who created these various sects, integrated Islams universal teachings with the culture of whatever country they came from, and now look where it got us. 72 different sects, most of which follow the culture of a country which many of us haven't even been to.

As for female genital mutilation, that is some SICK CRAP, and COMPLETELY cultural and has NO religious basis whatsoever.
