Breaking: Shooting at school in Scotland

Police where called to a school in Scotland called Auchinlek Academy After its thoughts shot where fired,

This is breaking news so there is hardly any info as of yet but i will update as much as i can till more information comes out,

Its thought that several people have been injured including police..

Thought to be an Air weapon involved, 5/6 pupils injured,

Auchinlek Academy in a general high school, Ages between 12 and 16..

The shooting is thought to have stopped, So hopefully we will know if the person has been taken in to custody

Air weapon? As in a BB-gun? Like it matters anyway, it's still sad to see this kind of violence going on, with kids nonetheless.

P.S. I'm still waiting for the gun rights advocates to take over this thread saying things like "well, if everyone carried an air rifle, then this wouldn't have happened"

From early information there is no "Serious" injuries, Though the pupils are thought to have been shot,

Early indications are that an Air rifle was used,

Sometimes I need to bang my head on my desk. I swear when I read air weapon, I thought morters or something. A bb gun? Really? I shot my little brother in the face with one of those (on accident!) when we were growing up. Missed his eye by a centimeter. Just left a round spot and a bruise formed the next day.

Ok new info,

The shooting was not at the school but in the town, And involved pupils from the said school where there..

People have died from being shot with these weapons here before. They shouldn't be underestimated.

EDIT: Some of the pupils are in hospital right now from being shot according to sky news.

Sky news saying that 6 people injured but with an air rifle.

Google school shooting in scotland and see whether this happens else where.

Just because it is an air weapon does not mean it’s a bb gun.

Some air weapons shoot bullets up to dear slug size. They are fully capable of taking down large game.

Possible 12 pupils involved, No youngsters taken to hospital from reports but some seeked medical advice.

So from basic appearances it looks like "possible" some kids having a bit of a go at each other...

Its popped up on BBC now...

Up to 19 people are thought to have been injured in a firearms incident near a secondary school in Ayrshire.

An air weapon is believed to have been used in the incident which involved pupils from the nearby Auchinleck Academy.

East Ayrshire Council said the school had responded immediately, by informing police and parents of the children involved and seeking medical attention.

It said the council was ensuring that support was available.

It is not thought anyone was seriously injured and no-one was taken to hospital.

A council statement said: "The council is working closely with the school to ensure that the school, the children and their families are appropriately supported."

Sadly yes it does not sound to bad but Air weapons can be very harmful if used at close range, And this has in the past caused death.

There are many news stories of kids being killed by such a weapon, like this
news.bbc.co.uk... of a 10 year old kid,

Every weapon is just that a weapon and can injurer.

And the old saying "it depends whos hands it is in"
