Egyptians Order Pizza for Wisconsin Protesters

slatest.slate.com

In an act of intercontinental solidarity, an Egyptian has ordered a pizza for Wisconsin protesters,

The call from Africa is just one of many streaming into the Madison, Wisc., pizza parlor Ian's from all over the world. So far, people from 12 countries and 38 states have rung up looking to help get free pizza to the Wisconsin protesters

staff member fielded calls from as far away as Turkey, Korea, Finland, China, and Australia. The trend began when a mother of a University of Wisconsin st

Now how incredible is that?
This sends a very important message

People have some enmity towards China, and maybe towards muslims in Turkey and/or Egypt.

But here the people donate pizzas to fellow protesters on another continent.

This goes to show that it's not Americans vs. the Chinese, it's American people vs. the American govt. and the Chinese against the chinese Govt.

It's people vs. govt. and these people are showing people from other nations some great tasting Pizza love!

The symbolism and message in this should send ripple effects accross the globe if people actually stop and listen and understand what's going on.

This reaffirms my belief that freedom brings people together!

Deprivations, pain and hunger is felt universally, more so for Egyptians who went through such sufferings to get rid of tyranny.

While the rich elites and powerful bat not an eyelid over the agony of the masses, cocooned within their palaces and stocked food, it was the common masses that lend a hand, an arm of soliditarity and a body of brotherhood warmth to share amongst us all, even though far away, for they know too what is misery and adversity inflicted upon them by others.

We are only humans, one race, despite our differences or locations, but laugh and bleed only the same. We are one, and we all can share...

I find it very difficult to compare the unrest in Egypt to the plight of the PUBLIC unions in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio etc etc.

Greed, Greed, Greed... Entitlements, Entitlements, blah blah,,,, The taxpayers have spoken and the taxpayers have had enough. Yes, the taxpayers who foot the bill for these union members to shut down schools thereby placing more hardship on the school families and the children in the schools. Clearly, we know what is more important to these teachers. I suggest these folks seek a new vocation. Tough to find job that will replace their $100k pay and benefit package though.

These little President backed union uprisings will do more harm to the unions than good. Wisconsin will be the tipping point. Their true colors are shining through the fog. Keep up the good work!! The truth hurts and reality bites.

ETA:

I don't think that people realize that it is the unions who have long maintained the stronghold, the leverage and the power. NOT the Govt. The govt. is biting back in the best interest of the majority of the taxpayers. FOR ONCE. Representatives are actually doing what they were ELECTED to DO!!

Government officials are bloated, lazy and over payed, they can put in four years with full benefits, then retire with a full pension.

Unions are good to a certain extent, but the problem is given too much power anyone group becomes greedy and corrupt.

We can play semantics with names by changing them, Union, Government, Large Corporations, Banks, but when an institution gets too big, there is almost zero accountability and to much power.

Without properly funded education, the young will remain untaught. When you pay for peanuts, you get monkeys.

There can be no compromise when it comes to proper education, unless there were no intentions to teach the young but to make them slaves, as UK is attempting to do. Slaves need no education.

Without Unions, Corporation Tyrants will rule and untooth those that dare to speak out to challenge them for fairer distribution of work assignments and pay. If these tyrants are successful, the next to go will be the sacred Constitution, bit by bit until dictatorship rules the land.

Well .. perhaps we can "bail out" these folks who have become accustomed and dependent on all that is being proposed be taken away .... Just as AIG et al were "too big to fail" ... I guess we see these teachers and such and their families not as important..

surely we can muster a few trillion .. as we did for these institutions who pay multiple multi-million dollar bonuses to these oh-so-desvering ceo and bankers who are so valuable and talented .. much more so than teachers ...

PIZZA for everyone ... it's called the WAKE UP AND SMELL THE OPPRESSION Combo.... don't go eat at the dollar menu of the Main Stream Media Propoganda drive thru anymore!

I support an end to all bloating from all sides. Sadly, the bloated never want to go on a diet.

The Unions are bloated and choose to spend money in ways that can just baffle the mind. SEIU spent $60 million on Obama's 2008 campaign. 60 million dollars!! to get their ace in the hole.

Unions pay non union members to protest and picket on behalf of the Union Members. They have no idea why they are even picketing. Where are the outraged union members?

Unions outsource at the picket line

You don't understand how the USA works. Some teachers in the USA do get peanuts, but what happens is when these schools need more money they bypass appropriate voter rights, and increase tax millage's, without voters consent. This is corrupt, and done because of school boards and unions that have to many administrator's.

I agree teachers deserve a good pay, but when the country is in a virtual depression salaries need to be adjusted accordingly.

In the real world when things get tough everyone needs to tighten their belts, not take an arrogant stance, that includes unions, politicians, and everyone else that is in the economic crisis situation.

The common folks are having a hard time paying taxes in the USA period, so I would wager that someone making 100k, full medical benefits, and retirement plans are not going to get much sympathy right now.

I especially love when the teachers unions move to block merit reviews and merit increases in pay. They want across the board increases for all. Regardless of performance and achievement. Plenty of teachers are just riding the wave to catch the next gravy train and they are rewarded at the same level of the teachers who actually give a damn about the achievement of the students.

I could go on and on about curriculum development and autonomy being taken away from the teachers. I am not anti teacher. The unions have degraded the system with the help of government intervention. We can all agree that the nation's public education system is in shambles. The true needs of the students are being ignored. Period. They are more concerned with what kids eat rather than what and how well they learn and achieve. Little junior fails Algebra but at least he is getting his vegetables and soy burger at lunch.

We've got big problems. Simple.

Friend .. Fox news bussed the same core of protesters all over the country for photo ops .. The Tea Party is their Frankenstein (Sarah Palin his bride) designed to control the "rebels" ... ahh I digress...

yes Unions can be/are corrupt ... Those teachers are calling in sick ... you can't fabricate that ...

If you are against bloat .. would you really start with the educational instructors of our children? .. or maybe insist corporations pay their fair share of taxes ..

worry not ... the 2 for 1 Large with two toppings revolution will arrive eventually ... I doubt Dominos will deliver to the Fema camp .. you can damn the Unions from between the bars and pine for the good ol days of 30 minutes or free....

I think there is a place for Unions, because of corporate greed and work conditions. I have work worldwide and know that countries that do not have unions, the workers are exploited and work in unsafe conditions.

The problem starts when they get too much power and start to take advantage of the system, get lazy, complacent, and as arrogant as the corporation they set out to protect their members from.
