It seems that seti has traced a signal that could be from a extraterrestrial civilization?

Explanation: No one knows for sure what caused this signal. There is a slight possibility that it just might originate from an extraterrestrial intelligence. The bright colors on the blue background indicate that an anomalous signal was received here on Earth by a radio telescope involved in a Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). A search for these signals is ongoing by several groups including volunteer members of the SETI League. Time labels the vertical axis of the above plot, and frequency marks the horizontal axis. Although this strong signal was never positively identified, astronomers have identified in it many attributes characteristic of a more mundane and ultimately terrestrial origin. In this case, a leading possibility is that the signal originates from an unusual modulation between a GPS satellite and an unidentified Earth-based source. Many unusual signals from space remain unidentified. No signal has yet been strong enough or run long enough to be unambiguously identified as originating from an extraterrestrial intelligence.

NASA
But then again maybe not! Why do they always try to give the illusion they find something real important,But debunk it at end of the story?

Please NASA don't place this article if you can't see the difference between extraterrestrial signals and earth based GPS signal! Come back if you do!

Thats all fooks nothing to worry about!

I really dont understand why this seti project is even still going, even nasa astronauts have said that the aliens are already here

Now these are the types of threads i like. Had so many before and been let down though. I will keep an eye on this with cautious optimism.

S+F, thanks for sharing. I hope this is the signal we are all waiting for and not another explainable anomaly.

To give the illusion that the tax payers money is still worthy for the Seti project?

nice find..

is it maybe the new top secret satellite that was put up there lately

hope they track this signal again and again..maybe they are just doing that who knows

Thats what I wonder too, If nasa or the governments know that E.T exists then why waste all the money searching for signals. If the government was funding SETI I would have said they do it to to cover up that they already know they exist, but they dont fund it.

HUGE!

"Slight possibility" in NASA words it means CONFIRMED!

Nice, maybe ET finally phoned home...but yes, there is so much stuff orbiting the earth that it could have picked up some strange interference from a top secret satellite or something...still...

You think so ? that alien bacteria also seemed to be something that most of the scientists already knew?

Seti is privately funded now the government stopped sponsoring them.

Yep, people should be aware of that.

yeah I heard that somewhere too . So they work independently from NASA now?

Nice post, I love the so lack of interest by Nasa on something that could be huge yet there it is on the dullest looking page with the most lack of detail info making it sound so 'so what'. A signal strong enough to get a mention but treated so strangely with a mention of extraterrestrial possibilities.

It's almost like they already know they are there

Your not the first that noticed this,They definitely know more about this than they say.But always want to poke us by releasing messages like these!

Most interesting, so there is a possibility that we may have been contacted? Or at least heard them? Or just something else?

SETIs Telescope array is in danger of being shut down and needs a big cash injection to keep it going this year.

the kepler telescope team which includes seti scientists has been passing early KOIs (kepler objects of interest) to SETI and they’ve been checking them out. I saw a report that they discovered a few anomolous signals but again most likely earth origin/interference.

Expect more announcements like this, they need to try dangle the carrot of success to raise funding. They get a lot of signals like these they just usually never make them public. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I Can imagine that! Also because the reliability of this technology is outdated. Its be of better use if they use it for picking up unmanned reconnaissance craft signals as back up or something. or making some kind of amusement park of it?

This is the same plan they snookered Clinton with several years ago. "Big announcement coming by Pres. Clinton about alien life." It turned out to be possible microbes on an meteorite and then they retracted that statement. Now, again, they are saying, "well, maybe." It is part of the game plan. It has happen two or three times, the original life-on-Mars experiments by the 1970's Viking landers, more recently water on Mars, water on the Moon, water on Titan. No, wait! Maybe even worms in the bottoms of those oceans on Titan, etc. This "now you see 'em, now you don't" business is a very clever plan to get you thinking about the topic but to keep you on the fence with various conflicting official data.

It is a safe plan to get us up to speed. SETI always was. Finding signals way the hell out there in space many light years away is as safe as a place you can get to discover alien life. SETI is the epitome of Sagan's old standard line, Yes, they are out there, but no, they can't get here." So that makes it like going to see the lions at the zoo, safe.
