We just had a pretty good size aftershock hit here. Small ones have been hitting all day, but just recently about 5mins ago one hit pretty big.

Very weird as well. I felt tiny pushes coming from below, followed by a good size shake.

After that another aftershock hit.

Anyone in the Southern California stay alert.

I checked RSOE and saw 5 quakes but none larger than 3.5. May not have been updated yet. Please keep us posted and take care!

Did it feel like you were rocking or rolling? That's how I've always estimated the quakes and shocks....

Stay safe

When you say pretty big, how big are you talking?

Any structural damage, people freaking out in the streets. crack in roads blah blah blah!

Nothing as yes of any importance on USGS.

I'm in Irvine right now and haven't felt anything, nor have my co-workers...in addition, my phone app has NOT notified me of anything in the area.

What area are you in..?

edit to add, I refreshed my app. and it does INDEED show a 4.4...kinda weak for these neck-o-the-woods. I don't feel them anymore unless they are above a 7.0.

OK - so I stopped being lazy and looked it up.

Not much damage you can do in Brawley and surrounding areas. IMO

Jeez! A 4.4!!??? We had bigger shakes in England let alone California.

I'm with the guy above. Unless, it's 6.5+ I'm going back to sleep!

Maybe i'm feeling it more because I live in Brawley, CA.

But they are increasing in magnitude. Around 6am we also had a 2.0 and a 2.1

Weather is weird as well.

Magnitude - State - Location

2.2 - California - Kane Spring
2.7 - California - Alamorio
3.5 - California - Citrus View
3.7 - California - Butlers (historical)
2.3 - Hawaii - Volcano

According to RSOE as posted earlier. I Wonder if this is a clear sign of more tremors/earthquakes to come. Maybe some more informed people that me could shed some light on any implications?
I'll keep an eye on this. Hope nothing bad happens.

There is a Quake Watch thread. Probably a good idea to add to that one.

They've all felt different.

I believe the 3.3 that hit felt as if there was multiple things pushing upward on the ground. The 3.7 was very loud, and you could here it before it hit.

The 4.4 was the same, but jolted back and forth, and then circular motions.

I didn't mean to make this sound like it was a huge quake.

And as I type this another just hit. Damn. Today is not good.

Sounds like you were "rolling" then. It can be unnerving at times, but I still miss California--just moved away last week.

Geothermal Plant in the area - energy from the Salton Buttes Lava Domes / Obsidian Butte.

But, of course, - Geothermal plants and fraking have no effect on volcanoes and do not cause quakes (yeah right)!

Just an FYI, but a couple of folks on GLP are predicting a major earthquake to possibly hit the west coast/CA, as soon as tomorrow:

www.godlikeproductions.com...

Personally I don't give any credence to EQ predictions like this as so many have been made in the past and failed miserably, but as a resident of SoCal myself I'm always on the lookout regardless. Especially on days like this when the area around the San Andreas starts shaking....
