Here is a link to a G4 youtube video of the recent preview of Skyrim that was shown at E3.

www.youtube.com...

I am very excited for this game. I first became familiar with the games when Fallout 3 came out. I thought that game was awesome but my brother kept telling me to play Morrowwind and Oblivion. Once I did, I was hooked. I actually am still playing a character in Oblivion because I just like walking through the woods picking flowers and looting some goblin mines.

But after watching this video, I am ready to play. I might have to save back a few vacation days from work.

Bethesda did not make New Vegas.

As long as Bethesda is making it, the plot and dialogue is guaranteed to suck.

I've never played "The Elder Scroll's" but I have been following Skyrim.
I played Fallout 3 and loved it, but what are the similarities? (if any).

Is it the same open world format with choice playing a role?
Is it just going to be Fallout 3 in Wow settings? (Plz don't take offence to that, I have to ask these questions)

Will I be riding a Dragon any time soon? lol

The Elder Scrolls series compared to Fallout has much more extended play. In this new game, Skyrim, one of the new features that I am excited for is the fact that there will be a real time economy. So I can help the lumber mill or black smith to earn money and in return there will be more weapons available. The same will go if you sabotage the production of these places. Plus, compared to Fallout, the maps are much larger with more caves and places to explore. The only long range weapons are a bow and arrow or targeted spells. The game play of the Elder Scrolls games is much more fun than Fallout.

After awhile, slow motion kills in VATS mode just aren't fun anymore. I've never played a game where you first had to battle dragons in the air then after you successfully knock them out of the sky, you have to fight them on the ground, add the fact that dragons are randomly generated like any other character and that equals a good time to me. They are claiming over 300 hours of gameplay. That sounds worth the $60 to me.

I watched the E3 footage and my jaw dropped... looks like i will be maxing the timer out again! the game looks gorgeous, the world economy and random and unique AI for each NPC is amazing, the sheer scope is impressive... its good to be a gamer, and although dozens of must-haves are coming out this year, (in my opinion the most jam-packed year in gaming yet) this is on the top of my must have list.

The game looks gorgeous? It looks like Oblivion with slightly updated graphics. It's still got Oblivion's clunky combat system and the character's still look like they fall deep into the uncanny valley.

Did you watch the E3 gameplay? The graphics were insanely impressive by xbox standards! More varied colours, more details both big and small, bigger draw distance, more realistic animations and NPC models. Higher framerate and overall better looking game as a whole. You must realise that the PC version will blow the PC version of Oblivion away, the xbox is only capable of so much after all.

And the combat looks improved but as youve said, still a bit clunky, although the animations better it as a whole.

And your accusation of the models looking bad blows me away. What were you watching?

I don't know what you saw, but all I saw was some kind of weird mix of Oblivion and Bioshock 2. I have high hopes for this game and I really want it to be good, but if this is anything like Oblivion, I'm not going to waste the money on it.

Same here, I had about 150 hours in oblivion. I'm also a big fan of the Fallout series. Bethseda is the best game maker out right now. IMO, they should be more popular than the COD series.. COD is just a bunch of hype.

Oblivion and Skyrim side by side comparison, I'm not going to tell you which is which. Forgive me for not really seeing the improvement here.

Well actually, there are two new games I'll be buying this year - Skyrim and the new Deus Ex of course!

Can't wait - I'm giddy as a school boy for these upcoming games! lol!

How about you enlarge the pic of Skyrim (it's damn obvious which is which) so we can see the details better.
Don't like it don't buy it, but it is clearly a massive improvement. (can see that even from your way too small and blurry pic).

The 1st one is Skyrim. You just have to have played Oblivion to know that Skyrim has wayyyy better graphics.

Listen here you traditionalist scum..

Fallout 3's plotline rocked out...ya ya, they altered some things, such as the brotherhood of steel suddenly becoming the "good" guys verses the neutral guys just seeking tech, but hell, I am of the opinion thats fully forgivable.
And whats to say thats not perfectly acceptable. BoS is far away from Cali, and they have been sort of out of contact...perhaps they decided to simply pick a side being soo close to the iconic DC monuments, along with the enclave and the fake president breathing down their neck...natural adaptation.

Next...Are you saying Oblivion's plot sucked? It had Patrick Stewart as the king! Let me guess, your a morrowind fan whom waves the flag at crappy graphics being somehow great..
I played morrowind when it first came out...I found it a bit boring frankly..oblivion totally blew my socks off in regards to graphics, open endedness, and general directional plot (should you choose to fulfill it.
Now granted, it was a bit constricting (say you wanted to be evil..well, no...your going to do whats right in certain areas as thats simply programmed in) but overall, the game was revolutionary.

Bethesda does brilliant work...and one of the main factors of their epic win is that they make games that thrill the modding community. its all about the mods...you can remake the entire game with a bit of know how, expand to infinity, change the whole look and feel, etc...

For shame...for shaaaaame that you would dare speak ill of Beth!

Skyrim will rock!

Naa, we disagree on something
We probably agree on many other things.

I am curious if there will finally be decent use of a z-axis.
I wanna tame and fly one...or jump on something and fight em in the air.
Dragons though will be dynamic spawning..meaning they can appear pretty much anywhere randomly.
