There is a Castle in the region of Cardona, Catalunya (Spain) which had been standing for 1000 years.
Historic battles of blood and fire were fought. It is said that many people were tortured and executed in the dungeons underneath the Castle.

A brief history;
The Castle of Cardona is arguably the most important medieval fortress in the Principality of Catalonia. It is situated on a hill overlooking the river valley of the Cardener and the town of Cardona.

The fortress was initially constructed by Wilfred the Hairy in 886. It is in both the Romanesque and Gothic styles, and includes the so-called Sala Dorada and Sala dels Entresols. During the 14th century, the dukes of Cardona came from the most important family of the Crown of Aragon, which was second only to the royal house. Because of this, they were called “kings without crowns,” as they had extensive territories in Catalonia, Aragon, and Valencia, and dynastic ties with Castile, Portugal, Sicily, and Naples. This presumably increased the importance of the castle.

In 1714, even after a Bourbon siege destroyed a good part of the castle's walls, the garrison was one of the last to surrender to the Bourbon troops which supported Philip V. As the Bourbons and their heirs would go on to suppress Catalonian national identity, the fort has become significant to Catalonian nationalism.

Today, the castle's main jewel is the torre de la minyona (from the 11th century) a tower which measures 15 meters in height and 10 meters in diameter. Additionally, there is the romanesque church of Sant Vicenç de Cardona adjacent to the fort. The fort is currently used as a parador, a state-run luxury hotel.

1970s the castle got built into a luxury hotel.
Even though, thousands of people stay at the Hotel. Not many know about one of their rooms.
Workers who reformed the Castle said that they could hear noises and saw apparitions in room 712.

One such worker saw the apparition of a woman dressed in medieval clothes.
Others say it is a man wearing medieval clothes.
Some claim even when the room is locked you can hear furniture moving around.

Animals like Dogs or Cats will NOT go into that room.

The Castle was home to different Dukes throughout the ages, and was a place of pain.
Since the 10th century there have been legends of paranormal.

Old people from the neighboring village have seen a young woman climb to the top of the tower.

The room 712 is NEVER open to the public. If you wish to spend the night there one must ask in reception.

A group of Spanish Ghost hunters decided to stay there for 4 days and 4 nights.

One person who stayed there asked the Hotel to change his room because he could see a man in medieval clothes standing at the end of his bed.

An English woman who stayed there told the Hotel manager that all throughout the night someone or somebody was pulling her hand.

The cleaners will not go into the room alone. Whenever they have to clear up, they go two in two.

A well known Spanish Lawyer turned reporter and writer, Francisco Gonzalez Ledesma spent a night in the castle.
They warned him not to stay there. But he refused to believe in such stories.
At 2am he began to hear very loud noises of furniture being dragged from the room above.
He explains that it wasn’t just any noise it was like a whole wardrobe had been dragged.
Snr Ledesma, still to this day cannot explain what is happening in the Castle.

One Director of the Hotel resigned leaving a note for his successor.
The note warned the new director of the room 712.

The new Director called the old one on the phone when he explained that before the Hotel had keys to open the rooms. Now they have cards. One day the cleaners could not open it with the key so they called the director who went up to the 7th floor and tried opening the room 712, when a voice from inside the room said "YOU MUST WAIT". The guy resigned.

The former Director of the Hotel explains;
5pm, a Basketball team was staying at the Hotel and they asked if they could leave sometime during the afternoon instead of at 12am, the next day.

They were staying on the 7th floor.
As normal when the basketball team left, the cleaners went to clean the room. They cleaners thought that all the rooms on the 7th floor were occupied by the team. So they turned the key, as the room was locked, and heard a voice that told them to wait.

They did, as they thought the Basketball team was still on the 7th floor. When they looked at their work sheet they found that the team had already left and no one stayed in room 712 anyway.

Security got called and they went up to the room but couldn’t open it. The Director then made his way to the ghostly room turned the key when the voice again told them, again, to wait.

The Director managed to open the door and 4 people went in. Everything was normal except for the bathroom. They found a hot water tap on at full blast with condensation on the mirror, a used towel and foot prints.

They searched the whole room and no one was there.

Other people, some of them paranormal investigators have stayed in the room and heard a voice telling them to sleep.
One of them says that at 2am someone knocked on the door, he got up to check but again no one was there.

Happy Halloween.

That was quite a scary story, thanks for that.

Are you going alone?
You should try asking the manager if he has considered putting a video camera in the room.

I can't understand why the director would have resigned over a simple matter as being politely told to wait while the ghost was likely finishing its bath. As far as alleged hauntings go the ghosts of 712 sound very civilized and friendly. Okay, perhaps they can be a bit noisy but supposedly most ghosts are. At least they weren't yelling "boo!" at the guests.
I think I'd rather put up with the goings on in that room than experience another bout of sleep paralysis in my own home.

Not many people like these kind of things. Spain is a very religious country, maybe he was religious.

He definatly resigned. Maybe he saw more than what is known. Can you begin to imagine how many people died in a Castle thats been standing for 1000 years, in Spain....

I cant understand it either, but i dont understand why hot dogs come 10 in a pack and buns come in 8?

Have fun! I can't wait to read this thread when you get back. I hope you get the kinds of pics you want. At any rate it looks like a cool place to visit...ghosts or no ghosts. Lol maybe you ought to take a gift basket of soaps and bubble baths for that bathing ghost.

"You must wait!"

"But you simply must try this new eucalyptus-mint body wash!".

One of my sisters-in-law sells Avon beauty products. I think I'll recommend she and her husband stay at this castle for their next anniversary. She could really make a killing in sales to that bathing ghost.

Sorry couldn't resist. I really am looking forward to reports of your visit.

Have a great time and take loads of photographs ... I have my own small paranormal investigation group called W.I.S.P.S (Woodwytch Investigations of Supernatural & Paranormal Source) ... we'd love to go to a place like this ... really envious of you and will be back to see the pics you catch.

Not sure how you usually take your pics but obviously if you can have two cameras as opposed to one so much the better ... and from personal experience we have captured our best anomolies when in complete darkness (no artificial light and no flash on the camera) ... if you're using a digital camera once you upload them to your computer (even if it just looks like completely black pictures) ... initially view them all on full screen ... and find a programme that will allow you to brighten the pictures just a little.

Chances are most of them will still show nothing ... but there is a very good chance that you will capture something you may otherwise have missed if there had been an artificial light-source available when the shot was taken.

Happy Hunting and Happy Hallows'een (for Sunday).

:I really wish you could say something like I posted to the bathing ghost. I really wish I could be there with you so I could say it. I can't repress my sense of humor even when the hair is standing up at the back of my neck and I want to run. Thanks for understanding my joke was to laugh with you and not at you. I've been lighthearted on this thread, but I am taking it seriously, as of all the hauntings I've read of on ATS this is the most exciting because it's about to be investigated first hand by a member. Also the bathing ghost is kind of funny, holding everything up until he or she gets nice and clean. Sounds like the kind of ghost my grandma would have been if she ever decided to haunt a place.

Wouldn't that be great

How did it go ... looking forward to your update ... even if nothing spectacular happened (as can often be the case) I'd still like to hear about the evening ... and see any pictures of it (looks like a truly amazing location).
