Ah the old split tactic. You know how I hate them. But the point is, even when the fairness doctrine was in place, you had one-sided reports with token opposition reports. Rush under the fairness doctrine could read Shakespeare and sprinkle it with political commentary and still be on the air, because people would listen to what he would say next.

For example: "An appropriate quote for our times is 'Never a Borrower nor Lender be' and today, right out of the Washington Post, Nancy Pelosi has talked about how the The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has helped end the Recession, however jobs that were lost have not yet been filled. Folks, how can you possibly pay off huge loans from the Chinese when the tax base has been continuously reduced by 10% ever since Obama has taken office and promised that this would be the answer to economic recovery? Perhaps another appropriate quote would be 'To thine own self be true'. More after the break."

Yep, still political partisan, yet within the fairness doctrine guidelines and not too far than the crap he spews now, just more refined.

breed i have to agree with you there is no way foxnews competes with the liberal machine
department of education, schools, colleges, universities, hollywood and the main stream media.....fox news stands alone in that onslaught of liberal bias and yet it is the only news station that is constantly vilified for "lying"...

Exactly, if you want to start on liberal bias, one needs look no farther than the colleges..............it's also been creeping into the public schools for awhile as well................

.....

How, exactly, is that? Because I went to a public school and it was everything about my upbringing EXCEPT that accursed place that led me to be liberal. That was 5 years ago, what's changed since then?

geez people, how come everything has to be
either left or right, Dem or GOP, one side
or the other, bicker, bicker, bicker, bahhhhh!!!

This is about TRUTH
not partisan Politics.

back to the OP which most seem to
want to stray away from.

I hope this encirclement has a good ending
and I hope it works. But I doubt it will.
But I am in favor of it and wish them well.
But I hear Obama's big shoe coming around
the South Lawn now to stomp this lil event
into oblivion. Can't have the serfs questioning
the elites can we????

L.Brent Bozo? Screw him.

Just another moralist whining about something that's not there.

They won't ever tell the truth because guess what, they're owned by staid conservatives!

Faux Noise is the voice of Rupert Murdoch and his cronies.

They don't represent the common folks. Rather, they stir up the common folks by using mistruths and lies to do so.

Boondock Saint... You're always a voice of rationality.

On the subject, why must politics be so Euclidean? Why must we b e left or right? I'm re-reading Illuminatus! by RAW and Shea and, well, the right-left dynamic ticks me off right now, as it always should...

I agree, TELL THE TRUTH.
We need congress to pass a transparent government.

I would agree with that. I'm afraid hell would freeze first. too many lies to cover up to bring them out now.

Anyone missing the Fairness Doctrine? If it was still in place things like this wouldn't even get the time of day.

Anyone missing the First Amendment - you know, the one that guarantees the right of free speech?

I believe that would trump the politically correct so-called "fairness doctrine".

I love it.
Where were those trucks during the lead up to the Iraq war shouting for the "Liberal Media" to tell the truth?
Its like the kettle screaming, "Hey Pot, why are you so black!?"
Election year. Lets get those fingers nice and stiff.
Politics are a joke anymore.

And I wonder how many people posting against these trucks being allowed to drive around also posted in favor of the NYC mosque using the first amendment as a reason?

Of course, it would be hypocritical for anyone to have done that.

The difference between a Republican and a Democrat is this : Dem sees the misery in the world and asks-'how can we all share this misery? Repub says "how can we eliminate it?'. The liberal democrat party is comprised primarily of people who have never worked an honest days work in their entire lives. I know in my heart there are hundreds of thousands of democrats who voted for the 'skinny socialist' and can't believe they were so deceived.

I don't see it as an attack on free speech. You can still say what you want. You just can't spin it to be untrue. Is there something wrong with that?

Yes, there is something wrong with that.

It would require government "thought police" to decide the "truth".

In this case, it comes down to some people (likely a majority) think that much of the MSM does have a liberal bias. Some (likely a minority) don't.

So, you've got a way to prove which group is right that will stand up in court? Because to stop the trucks (and infringe on their 1st amendment rights in doing so) will require some sort of legal action. Remember, it's also a 1st amendment right to burn the U.S. flag.

That's my point though. If the FD was in place the media couldn't be liberally biased.

And my point.

Exactly who gets to decide what's "fair" when even the Supreme Court is politically polarized these days?
