I think something like this or any black project could be hidden from public view for a long time. How many people knew about the B-2 or SR-71 before it was rolled out by the goverment. The goverment spends alot of money on keeping new aircraft a secret estimated at 1/3 of black project cost goes into keeping them secret and they have had alot of practice.
I was watching a show about stealth awhile ago and at the end of the program they said that a disk shape craft would be ideal for stealth aircraft and the showed a computer animation of a disk shaped craft with a USAF on the side

The answer is, THOUSANDS of people knew. Everyone involved in designing, building, maintaining/repairing, refueling, washing the windscreen, inflating the tires, parts and componant suppliers, flying, and operating the B-2 and SR-71 knew the "secret". Foreign government intelligence services and the people they serve almost certainly knew the "secret".
Let me tell you something about "secrets". If more than one man or women is privy to a slice of information it is by definition no longer a "secret" and has effectively entered into the public domain. The only "secrets" are those that are kept by a solitary person, and no one else - THAT'S A SECRET.

If you think the general public is aware of the secret projects the goverment conducts I fear you have been grossly missinformed. Im not talking about what I know but what the american public as a whole. Most people do not even care about secret aircraft under devlopment let alone search out information on them. Thousands of people new about the Atom bomb before it was dropped did the general public in america know?
Do you think you know all the secrets of the goverment because you watched a couple shows or went to a bunch of websites?

That's what one is led to believe anyhow. Just because YOU, aka "the general public," are not privy to some bit of information does not make it a "secret". YOU, as an individual, do not constitute the general public in its entirety. YOU are just one of many. What YOU may classify as a "secret" is common knowledge to many others, aka general public.
By YOUR definition of what a"secret" is, ANYHING not know to yourself could be defined as a "secret". Any one of hundreds of chocolate cake recipies in the public domain YOU are not personally aware of would fit YOUR definition of a "secret". Understand?
