Looking at the numbers above we can project that the world's population will hit 7 billion by 12/2012.

I'm certainly not going to celebrate. We need to get a handle on our reproductive habits! Overpopulation is a critical danger to our species.

A mass suicide would be pretty helpful.

Just kidding, of course, but it really isn't something to be happy about. We really need to start implementing some kind of child birthing laws.

Ay Caramba! Never realized the world population grew 6-7 million people a month! Someone better do something. Oh wait, they already are.

don't worry WW3 will thin things out, does this mean obama gets 1 millino dollars for figuring out a way to reduce the worlds population

Frankly I think there are way more than 7 billion people ATM, due to ones not being counted. There are plenty that are not under census. Countries such as Serbia, Russia, Kosovo, Albania etc. have many uncounted ethnicities and their census is based on speculations and ID cards, there is no real census like one in US. I believe many Chinese are not counted at all due to heavy penalties for having children.

Currently, seeing how vast majority of humans are only concerned with their own material being... I can only weep, not celebrate. About six billion units of one epic fail, but I am still positive about future... whatever happens, I know that in the grand scheme of things it is almost insignificant.

For some reason I have this inkling feeling that the world is not supposed to reach 7 billion. Seems to be too complete of a number. I think it won't if TPTB have anything to say about it.

What about this idea:

When we hit 7 billion by the census database and the news is covering it around the world we all celebrate by making more babies. That would create an enormous baby boom era.
