As the faces return to the wood grain
(they were there all along)
I ask myself why I had returned
There is nothing left here to find
No secrets to reveal in the laughing tree-people
The trails of color, although dripping in all its eloquence
Is no longer brilliant. So why did I return?
I don't know the answer, but I do know this
I cannot look in the mirror without realizing
A half of me that died all those years before
It is true what they say about Pandora's Box
And while this place is serene and separated
from all evil and tribulation
I must come here alone
It's always been that way, forever and e'er more
With tears in my eyes and complete love in my heart
I turn to my true friends back on the other side of the spectrum
Reach out my hand and ask to join me in one last dance
Of a song that will never end

I have returned for various reasons, searching...for something I cannot grasp, a problem that has eluded me. Many times I have consulted the Mushroom gods for that thing. When i found it I think my ego did not like the answer: be patient all things have their purpose.

I really liked this, thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you read into it what is was....I had written this about 3 years ago, awestruck and completely inebriated, the pen just seemed to flow. I remember looking down at the paper after I had finished, it seemed surreal that these words had came from me. I'm happy you got something out of it, thanks for the reply.

This thread resonates with me as well.

It's hard to describe in words, that's for sure.

I liked that actually.

I "Got" a few of the lines and have certainly had some similar feelings/experiences.

Nice one

I know what you are saying, it speaks for itself really, I can't even elaborate further. It was if I was on autopilot and managed to land a plane in the darkest storm of my life...

I hope you expand on this. All sorts of strange connotations come to my mind while reading it.

That image....speaks volumes. Tell me, have you ever referred to wood paneling as evil witchweave? Cause thats all I tend to see. Faces upon faces of accomplished sorcerers and warlocks. They reveal themselves only under the right conditions, otherwise they go unnoticed. God forbid they entangle themselves from the chains of grain, for I'm sure I would never be able to sleep tonight

That's not just any old pair of egg yolk's. They were twins and I ate them like they were the last two chickens on Earth!.. You had to be there, I would have shared!

There's a word for how that works... Pareidolia. Wood grains can be especially effective, but so can just about anything else which has randomness.

I love it because it's a window into your own self.

Here's a look into mine through a 'dot' painting:

Believe it or not, most was done by dipping a toothpick into different paint and daubing it on the panel.

That's actually a really cool picture and yes, there's a lot in there.... or at least I can "See" a lot in there, whether it's there or not is a subjective thing.

Different people will see different things. That's the beauty of it. Myself, I see air sprites and fauna... most easily a nice buck jumping through the bottom right.

Did you do that painting? I'm simply amazed. Now that is a talent I wish I had.
thanks for that

Yes... it's mine. I've a bunch on ATS Media that are in the same vein. Pareidolia is a fascination of mine as, apparently, it is yours as well.

Check out this pic of a cloud:

I see a figure.

And, then there's wood grain:

A feast for the sense of sight.

Now thats a King's army of Wizards in that one! They can just stay trapped in their confines as far as I'm concerned!

Also thanks for the word of the day. "Pareidolia" I have heard of it before but it was long ago, thanks for the refresher!
