We can all flag a thread only once. Why dont we also have a "Vote Off" button to get rid of obvious threads started by trolls??

Maybe 50 votes and thread is automatically deleted.
Better still, the OP is banned but I guess thats too much to ask..

I am just sick and tired of obvious trolls posting rubbish...

Then I end up with warnings for my replies

What's a troll to you is not necessarily a troll to someone else.

Meaning, it would get abused and people who aren't trolls will get banned for starting a thread that a group of people don't like.

It would also encourage forums gangs, which is against the T&C's.

Can't something like this be abused by members quite easily??

I mean some members IMHO will more than likely vote for against a thread when the thread is nothing more than something that they disagree with.

Subsequently someone could then be banned for posting something which they believe to be true and or interesting when others may disagree and think they are just trolling.

I think it's a great idea to try and tackle trolling but I think this method could be abused too easily by members and has the potential to be very unfair.

I can see the point of your main complaint.
The big catch, with your solution, is that the trolls would gang up together and start voting off other people.
No, that way chaos lies.

Thanks guys, I can see all your points...

Its just so frustrating...

I could just hit ignore but then the answers from other members don't make sense...

We don't need these obvious trolls, its just a case of how do we get rid of them...

Think of trolls as your fish. Stop feeding them and they go away.....FOREVER!!!

In other words it is futile trying to push your views upon others, who have views that differ. Don't agree, don't reply.

Simple....

I have just seen a troll on a thread about gun control. I agree, we need some way of ditching these fools - when they are obviously out on the troll that is.

THIS PERSON wants a troll button because I have blinded him with the truth.

HE/SHE apparently has never met someone who is all out anti-gun, pro-globalization, pro-Obama.

He/SHE has tried to derail several of my threads by calling me a disinfo agent or a troll. I used to believe in some of the things they did until I did my own research.

I am completely opposed to the troll button.

I like the idea, except I'd rather be able to vote off trolls posting on existing threads. There's a few people who constantly jump on threads they don't like with the obvious intention of derailing them with the exact same opposing arguments over and over. It's really a buzz kill.

Exactly. I come on here telling the truth about the crimes against my life which are fact. Then if they had a thing like this, people could just group together saying its trolling, when its just the truth.

Ats should stay free of this sort of gov thinking.

If you do not like something ignore it.

Heres a simple solution:

when you encounter a troll, simply type the following and leave:

WARNING: PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS

Then when a new poster sees a bunch of these, they will know its a troll thread.

I agree with you here Chad...
Such a button would for sure ''silence' a group of people and create Threads fo special groups' where the 'trolls' will not get any input noticed.

Although, trolls are annoying !

WHat if a bunch of disinfo agents are on here and they do that and make people glancing through the thread miss true information??

ANSWER: No troll button will be made. It violates ATS terms and agreement.

There is also the alert button under each persons post, think the post is a troll post, hit the alert button.

There is also a thread alert button at the top of the page, think the thread is a troll thread, hit the alert button.

Its that simple.

DO you have any members in specific that you would like to point out as trolls?

Perhaps we could all just unanimously agree with your choices.

Yeah, It's not that can be deemed an 'off topic comment' or anything like that as well.
(in the thread you should post that in I mean)

Anyway here's a better idea that others have already suggested......Ignore the troll!

Honestly, It Works wonders.

And I'm sure you and your mates have read the T&C and know how far to push...

But maybe not because I've seen a few of your posts removed recently...
