60 immigrants lost in AZ desert

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies rescued a man Thursday morning who claimed to have been wandering with a group of about 60 illegal immigrants in the desert for eight days.

The man, in his late 20s, called deputies around 10 a.m. from near Interstate 8 around Mile Post 133. He said he had wandered away from a group of immigrants to search for water or help, said Detective Aaron Douglas of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

If we secured our border and really started going after businesses who hire them, these people wouldn't be dragging their children through one of the harshest environments in the world, to die. If we were such Nazis down here, we wouldn't be spending tax money and dispatching rescuers to try and save them. We care about them as human beings, regardless how often truly racist idiots try and make us the ONLY country in the world that is somehow considered fascist for actually enforcing our immigration laws. As nice as it would be to have the resources to absorb everybody who wanted to come here, it's not possible. We're over extended as it is.

Not only do we need to secure our borders, but we could also bring the criminal cartels and human smugglers to their knees in very short order by legalizing marijuana. Only the most hard headed fools will say it's worse than alcohol or tobacco. It makes up at least 70% of the cartels' income which would cause them to kill each other for the last 30% of money and power, and that would free up manpower and jail space for real criminals. Not to mention the benefits of regulating and taxing it, and the economic growth keeping ALL that money here in the USA would bring.

Approaching it from all angles would have a much better chance of success. Once the bleeding has stopped, we could consider guest worker programs in which migrant workers could all get a chance to work here for a period of time and make a decent taxable wage doing "the jobs Americans don't want". The only problem would mean those at the top would have to pay a little more for labor and obey work laws, which we all know they don't like doing.
