In my college it seems that only the retarded people get the praise, for example, on my class there is a man with autism, hes about 24, he was doing Level 1 WORD Processer, and passed it, all the tutors are congratulating him, well done, well done, thats brilliant, bare in mind, it goes Pass, Credit, Distinction, pass being the lowest of passing, distinction the highest.

Now this made me feel low, very low, my tutors came over to mark my Level 3 Website Development, i got a credit, i thought thats really good because i struggle alot with web dev, but oh noo, the tutor goes into a rage (im not joking) Some quotes which stuck with me,

"Its rushed"
"If you worked as a webdev you would get fired on your first day"
"Layout is awefull"

And other things... I left college that day incredibly cheesed off

I got a credit, thats better than a pass! The website itself was fine! I did HTML codes, animated buttons, backgrounds, all links worked and everything!

But i got no well dones, or try better, i just got a load of abuse, why should retarded people get praised just because they are mentally handicapped? Why should they be treated differently!?

Level 3 is the highest and equivalent to 2 A Levels, evil evil tutors

Is this satire? The guy with autism overcame a disability and achieved something so people feel the need to congratulate him. Nothing wrong with that. Is your self esteem so low that you expect to have a standing ovation at every turn in your life? If you feel bad now, just wait until you hit the working world. Your teacher expects more from you and wants you to achieve your highest potential. You can't do that if you are sitting there being a sissy, complaining that you didn't get a banana sticker.

Gratz on your passing of that class seriously, but come on, time to be a man and toughen up. Growing up, if I had complained like that, my parents would have stomped my a**.

Frodo was not cool. He was merely the ringbearer sissy that got his a** beat up and down while Sam did all the work. You should strive to be Sam.

I was going to call you every name under the sun, but I have decided that I've had enough off topic posts removed here and that's all that will happen here if i go down that path and YOU ain't worth it.

This thread is so wrong on so many levels...

You are so wrong on so many ways...

I'm not even going to bother trying to explain why, because if normal common sense doesn't tell you, I certainly won't.

Can't believe you are jealous of a person with Autism.

Is this what our world has become???

What the hell did your parents teach you??

Nonono, i think i got my point across wrong, everyone deserves praise, just because your mentally disabled doesnt mean only you should be praised for hard work.

It is a big blow to your confidence telling someone how awfull there work is, when i you spend hours and hours of your time doing it.

The world is a harsh place. If it makes you feel bad, then let that build into anger and make something better.

My parents taught me to respect everyone EQUALLY! Not respect someone more or less, tutors shouldnt treat students differently just because they are disabled. You really have to be in my college to understand.

Tutor: " Haydn Log off that man wants to sit there"
Haydn: But im doing my work?
But the guy with autism wants to sit in my place, so i have to get up, get all my paperwork, and relocate just because some guy wants to sit in my place!

Its discrimination, im sure he is quite capable to moving to another location, he can drive a car to college and back im sure he can do that.

If one does not ask themselves each and every day, at the end of the day, if they have done all they could possibly do, and even if they ask this question of themselves, and the answer is yes, then they have agreed to become thoroughly satisfied with themselves.

You've got a dangerous mind and a v strange philosophy, when I say dangerous don't be feeling all manga and dark I mean dangerous for yourself.

In many ways I feel more sorry for you than the Autistic guy who climbs a mental mountain every day of his life, have you no idea that the autistic guy was being praised for his achievements, that being the end result for him but your tutor was pushing you in the, I'm sure vain, hope you would get a job in the relevant field.

I can see a eugenic theme to your efforts here at ATS, before I thought you might be 17 from the tone of your "writings" and the name now I know you are.

I hope at some point you grow as at the moment you have no hope as a man or father.

Edit to add the above wasn't aimed at ventian but I have h17 on ignore for his racist leanings and only saw what he had written through ChadW's post, obviously the opening post needed a reply.

Everybody deserves praise no matter what ability or level of intelligence.

If you have no mentally handicap and you dont do your work properly, you get called stupid, thick.

Just because i dont have autism doesnt mean im the smartest person in the world, i struggle with work.

I have strong opinions and im not afraid to let people know about them.

Actually the OP has a point (although tenuous).

It is a case of prejudice, bias, and discrimination.

This does not make any sense. I believe in equality of all humans.

Everyone have fun attacking the OP, but truth is he is being discriminated against due to his mental capability. As is the handicapped person, as they are prejudice towards lumping praise on them out of pity.

BUT, the OP needs to learn Web Dev better also (apparently).

I think attacking the OP is wrong.

Attack his statements not his character. Please....

Exactly, i expect to be treated equally!

Just a couple of days ago, i asked my tutor for help, he said he would be with me next, but nope, Autism guy jumps the gun and gets the undivided attention, the minutes ticked by, and after waiting 40 minutes i gave up and just went home.

If that is true than he should be held to the same standards as everyone else. Or failed.

Sorry but driving a car is DANGEROUS and COMPLEX. Normal people screw it up every day and DIE.

If he can drive a car safely, he is not retarded. Bottom line.

If he can't pass the same test the OP passes, he should be failed and have to start over like everyone else.

Who the heck is going to hire a guy with the lowest possible scores in Web Dev anyways? What is the point of all of this???

Call me confused as hell...

attacking the OP is unfair and I apologize. He should learn that treated equally isn't going to happen. Someone is always on top and preferred. To tell him otherwise is a flat out lie and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for giving him hope only to have it shattered.

EDIT, sorry thepreye. I didn't get to see the edit. This post is uhhh general I guess lol.

It goes from Level 1 to 3, you have to complete Level 1 to get to 2, and 2 to 3 etc.

Level 3 being A level standard.

1. lol, no it's not it's the application of teaching and motivational techniques.

1b. See 1.

2. Have you no humanity he must be condemned and helped both of which I tried to do.

3. His character as exhibited on ATS is reprehensible it is what is behind his statements.

Retarded people get all the praise? You don't expect sympathy with a title like that do you? Seriously, grow a pair, install a spell-checker and learn some basic grammar.

Sheesh. One day you might have a real problem...

I don't think he is mentally handicapped.

You said he drove a motor vehicle. That requires competence, skill, attention, and tons of coordination.

Also he has to be able to read signs and determine physics equations of distance, velocity, trajectory, etc, on the spot instantly.

This guy is not handicapped. He is playing the role assigned to him by the PC crowd, and he may be a little slow, but that is because everyone keeps reinforcing the belief he is handicapped.

If people would treat this poor man like an adult, perhaps he would feel like an adult for once.

I think the environmental factors (treating him as 'handicapped') has predisposed him to fulfilling that role.

I find it far more offensive that people degrade "handicapped" people by lowering standards for them and treating them as "lesser than".

The OP and myself want this fellow treated as an equal. Not a lesser being.

So I guess the PC crowd is actually the ones treating the handicapped fellow wrongly and unjustly after all. They are the ones making life harder for him to advance.
