Eleven indicted Somali pirates dropped a bombshell in a U.S. court today, revealing that their entire piracy operation is a subsidiary of banking giant Goldman Sachs.

There was an audible gasp in the courtroom when the leader of the pirates announced, “We are doing God’s work. We work for Lloyd Blankfein.”

Ok if this is real, it is extremely messed up.

If this is fake, than we can say this source is a hoaxer.

It came from the Borowitz Report. I do not know if it is trustworthy or not.

I need other members to help corroborate or debunk this article.

They said it was satirical.

So this means the "Borowitz Report" is a total joke and all stories are basically fake???

It's a satirical piece. Just take a look at some of his other "articles". In one of them he claims the next big "social network" will be PhoneBook.

Hoaxers are mocking their stories up just the same way normal journalists do these days, it is extremely difficult to differentiate based purely on "it sounds like a joke".

Shhhh that kind of talk will get your name put in the little black book. There are reports on the net that someone traced the wire payments to a very famous building in London England.

Know what you mean. When you start seeing things happen that were once something you'd only see in a Saturday Night Live or Benny Hill comedy skit, it does tend to blur the lines a bit.

The kicker, for me, was towards the end of the article where they had all sorts of charges they could apply to "pirates", but now that they were claiming to be "bankers, well .... that's a whole different ballgame.
