I'm glad to see the president stand up to the nutheads who oppose this bill simply because they believe it'll be the end of the world. This video is brilliance.

Link to Video

The president took his pro-reform message to Maine, a politically friendly state he carried by nearly 20 points in the 2008 general election. While in New England, he also planned to make a quick stop in Massachusetts for a couple of Democratic National Committee fundraisers.

"So after I signed the bill, I looked up to see if there were any asteroids headed our way. I looked at the ground to see if cracks had opened up in the earth. It turned out to be a pretty nice day. ... Nobody had pulled the plug on Granny. Nobody was being dragged away to be forced into some government plan."

Bit of a smart-a$$ - I found it humorous, actually

I assure you, many members on here are going to claim "it's only been a week. Just wait until the Socialist Fascist Marxist Nazis (yes, someone they all fit one person according to the right wingers and Glenn Beck fans) march into your home and take away grandma to send her to a FEMA camp that's only for old white folks. And yes, you'll have to wait a while for that to happen...like..a while..."

and while we wait impatiently for martial law and civil war, nothing will happen and the country will either progress into victory or economic destruction more than it already is. The fact is, no one knows. Just like no one knows what happens after death. We'll have to wait and see. For the health care bill to be a success I mean. Not wait for the contradicting Nazis to come kill you

But anyway,

LOL, obama is such a jackass. Save that video, we can toss it back in his clowny face when the economy comes crashing down. If any of us managed our finances as these dorks in Washington, we'd be labeled as financially irresponsible morons. I'm going to put another curse on his ass tonight, ha. Gawd, I'm going to have to order another case of voodoo dolls if this keeps up, ha.
He just doesn't get it, does he. He has no RIGHT to make these kinds of personal decisions for us. He's in charge of the US, not our personal lives.

Sorry to say but the government has always been in charge of your personal life. State highways are owned by who? The failed No Child Left Behind started by who? Who passes historic laws such as Roe vs Wade? (that one depends on your views really)

The government. Believe it or not, it has a much bigger involvement with your life than you think.

How about the driving laws?
The drinking age?
And many more regulations.

And now you're cranky because of the government being involved with your health care? Guess what, in one way or another, the government always ran your HC.

As for tossing the video back in his face? Can we do the same with Bush and his Mission Accomplished speech videos?

Um, Bush already broke the economy, just as us nasty liberals predicted would happen thanks to his unfunded trillion dollar wars, trillion dollar tax cuts for the wealthiest 400 families in the US, and his trillion dollar medicare part-d welfare program for big pharma.

Somehow, you all have the ability to convince yourselves that the world started on January 20th, 2009.

Obama is doing the best to prevent the utter ruin of our country. He has so many tipped over port-a-potties to clean-up thanks to the last administration, that anyone who voted for Bush, quite frankly, has quite the nerve coming off as you do.

There really is not much Obama could do to embarrass and eviscerate our country compared to the bang-up job of the compassionate-conservative hero of the right.

Are you serious? Do you actually think its ok for the government to run our lives and involve themselves in everything we do? It sounds like your saying ah they already do it so whats wrong with a little more control of our personal lives. Oh and the highways are owned by we the people since that's where the money came from to build them.

Very little of the laws associated with the Health Care bill have kicked in yet...and many of the states are taking Washington to court as the bulk of money for health care will eventually come from the State's treasury/purse...and they can't afford it.

So the fight isn't over with yet...BHO is taking credit for a law that is yet to be settled.

Not everything and I wish more things were private and I wish certain taxes would be eliminated. But that's just the way it is.

Not even the GOP believes that anymore. Their new strategy is to take credit for parts of the program, (and visiting bondage clubs), lol.

Keep telling yourself whatever you want, though. Worked pretty well when you all kept repeating 'HCR is dead,' or 'Jesus won't let Obama win,' or 'we'll be greeted as liberators,' or 'bring 'em on,' or 'we'll get him dead or alive,' or 'no successful attacks on the homeland occurred during the Bush presidency,' or 'trillion dollar tax-cuts and deregulation will be good for the economy,' or 'mission accomplished....'

If delusion and looking foolish is your vice, have at it. Thank god Obama appears to be a pragmatist.

Best,

Cute video. He really knows how to deliver a line so that the people really get it. Quite the comedian. I think it's about time he said something to the GOP for how ... wacky they are in this.

Isn't that what Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck do best?

Just wondering.

And they're the new faces of the Republican Party.

What also puzzles me about this health care reform is that obama knew that he would be alienating a whole lot of people with passage of this bill, enough to cost him a second term. Now, why on Earth would a SMART politician do THAT in his first term? He should have waited until his second term before destroying his political career. I'm still trying to come up with a possible logical explanation why he did this now. Certainly he didn't do it to SAVE us money or to promote and enhance his political career.

One idea that comes to mind is that he did this so that NEXT they can start dictating to us additional lifestyle changes. You know this health care reform won't fly here in america, where 1/3rd of our population are obese and obviously do not give a damn about their own health, and most of the rest do not exercise. Later he could call for smoking to be banned, and if not, THAT could bankrupt health care reform. After that, promiscuous lifestyles based around loose morals would have to be banned, we can't afford to care for everyone if everyone keeps getting STDs on their thingies. Unhealthy diets of course would have to be prohibited. And, certainly we could get health care costs under control if everyone were required to exercise every day and pass a physical fitness test every year. All of this could lead to greater government control of our personal lives and what services could be afforded and not be afforded for us. You certainly don't want to toss good money after bad, thus people that don't care about their health (i.e. they are obese and eat bad and don't exercise) a new heart when they will eventually need one, that's just stupid.

It sure boggles my mind that the first thing this guy did after taking office was to begin destroying his political career. Even those that support this right now will be pissed with him when they are eventually affected by the tremendous cost all of this will have upon all of us. It just doesn't make any sense.
