Just spotted this quake in Vanuatu occurring in the last half hour.

Details:

earthquake.usgs.gov...

It seems to be located in the ocean as well, wondering if there might be a tsunami alert issued.

Map of area:

And a couple of tsunami alert sites, just in case:

Would be interesting to know if there was any strange colors in the sky, so far most of the major quakes came after this strange phenomenon. Then after the Quakes we normally get reports of Gamma Ray burst from space, my theory is Gravity Waves form in front of the Gamma Rays and it's these Gravity Waves that cause both the lights in the sky and trigger the quake e.g. Put pressure on fault lines, even more so if fault lines are built near things such as Dams and reservoirs.

Edit: S&F for your super fast report of the Quake, I like that about ATS

You're quick - I just picked this up on my browser.

Unreal what's going on. It's really beginning to make me wonder, really wonder, what the hell is going on...

I hope (as always) the loss of life is not horrific.

peace

I noticed that Vanuatu gets a lot of earthquakes ever since I added the firefox earthquake add on. While typing this it shook again and showed Vanuatu again. I looked on the USGS website but it didnt show a second one yet.

Does this area usually get a lot of quakes? I have only had this app for about two months but I noticed Vanuatu pops up often with quakes..

Yeah Vanuatu is in the Pacific Ring of fire, earthquakes will frequent the area.

Hopefully this one won't cause any damage due to its depth and location.

Thank You!!

I love the add on, I even put one on my iPhone. Every since the Haiti quake I have been reading as much as I can on quakes....but they scare the crap out of me sometimes!

I hope there isnt a tsunami from this quake, the world doesnt need any more disasters!

Yes it gets a lot of quakes. 102 over the last 365 days over 4.0 of which several were 6+ and at least 2 were 7+

BTW before talking tsunamis, look at the depth - 200 km.

Absolutely nothing is going on yet that is out of the ordinary. The effects of Chile have not properly started working their way into the system yet!

All I can think of at this point is that The Beatles knew this was coming...

And they sang about Earth just "workin' it on out!"

Twisting & Shouting ... Al Gore is proud where ever he is...

This area gets a bunch of big quakes so it's nothing new.

Heads up for you equake people. If you see a big quake and then it shakes again with another of the same quake but a different size, it could be that they updated the magnitude. See if there is only 1 listing for the quake, if so they update it.
