This forum is always full of people with good intentions who pick a side and usually claim to be coming from the "Real American Perspective".

Well one way to sort out this mess of who the "True Americans" are is with a little test to see if you are really in touch with your inner American. This is for fun and in no way is actually a gauge of your patriotism but more a gauge of your knowledge of geography demonstrating an understanding of the parts of the country that exist outside the state you live in.

Heres the Test:

Without Google or cheating, In a single post, name as many states as possible. GOOD LUCK!!!

Heres a scoring reference I made up off the top of my head:
0-20: Life is good to you, so you could care less about the outside world.
20-30: Pat yourself on the back for a good job!
30-40: Next time you look in the mirror, you can say "Youre AWESOME!"
40-49: Einstein is amused by your brilliance and gives you a GOLD STAR!
50: You can just "WALK INTO MORDOR!"

Yeah, i can name all fifty. I'm not any more of an american than I was ten minutes ago.

What i find humorous though is the idea that someone is testing the knowledge of others when the difference between your and you're apparently hasnt dawned on them yet

I think he is talking about something like...

Can you name all the U.S. States?

Another one, that is a little harder is...

Can you name all the U.S. Presidents?

BTW I got 41 out of 50 States. not too bad.

I know all of them because of a song I was forced to sing in Elementary a few years ago. haha does that count as knowing all 50? "Fifty Nifty United States with 13 original col-o-nies"

Damn it! I thought that the INSTANT I saw the test.

Oh well!

edit to add-Wow, a memorization test, that has nothing to do with intelligence.

Okay, I started in the west and made it to the northeast and could not think of Rhode Island. Otherwise I named all the other 56 states

I was never good with the President thing. Always mess up in the early years. Not so good on that test.

I would just like to point out that a person does not need to know how an internal combustion engine works to drive a car. I like the idea of maps and puzzles but what has this to do with Politics?

Yes I too wish people took a more active role in politics, history, the constitution and our nation's laws but there is this silly little thing called a birthright which precludes us from understanding all things American.

Which is a long way to say, I got about half of the states correct.

Nice thread.

P.S. I do know the 7 continents though.

This is very relevant I think to all of our interests. Never heard of the song mnemonic for all 50 states. Do indulge our curiosity by posting this on youtube.

No. This is the worst advice possible. Honestly, this song just sucks the life out of you. It gets in your head and it won't leave....

Stay far, far away. For the love of God and all things holy!

I only know of 3 states - asleep, awake and inebriated. I vote for #3 consistently

Edit to add: To those who CAN"T name all 50 states - CONGRATULATIONS!! You went to american public schools for 13 years and know more movie titles than book titles. You're perfect! (To John D. Rockefeller anyway)

Looks like everyone did pretty good, Congrats to you US political MADNESS!!!

For those of you who got close to 50 you get a gold star

for those of you with a song stuck in your head you can eat the gold star (it has cyanide).
