According to the news this morning, medicare was cut 500 billion(21%), and with all the other expenditure cuts coming, just how can Obama look at any american with a straight face and say we all need to make sacrifices?

US diplomats add a moat to their expenses at $1bn London embassy

The United States has unveiled plans for its new $1 billion high-security embassy in London — the most expensive it has ever built.

The proposals were met with relief from both the present embassy’s Mayfair neighbours and the residents and developers of the Battersea wasteland where the vast crystalline cube, surrounded by a moat, will be built.

The State Dept. wants around $58.5 billion for it´s diplodinks for the upcoming fiscal year. It´s nuts. A lot of our embassys and consolates can be shut down completely, along with all those expensive staffs. Most of the citizen services can be done through the internet and snail mail. Set up secure video conferencing links with the leaders of these countries in a small office and start saving some serious money by using some 21st Century technology for once. We also eliminate a lot of security risks getting rid of hard targets that have to be constantly protected. Transfer some of those savings to our intelligence agencys to boost up HUMINT resources. Then we tell those countries we have virtual embassys with to set up a secure video link with us over at the State Department in DC, have their embassys declared obsolete, and boot all their spys and shleprocks out of the country.
