Woke up to this on the news, found it very very interesting.... Thought I would share it with fellow ATS members. Because I know how many of us disagree with the way our government is handling issues these days. Hopefully this is enough to spur some considerable change within the US political system, with most American's agreeing that it is necessary to remove most of the current standing congressmen. I am very interested to hear about others opinions on this issue...

From a very credible source: Rasmussen Political Polls and Reports

The founding document of the United States, the Declaration of Independence, states that governments derive “their just powers from the consent of the governed.” Today, however, just 21% of voters nationwide believe that the federal government enjoys the consent of the governed.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 61% disagree and say the government does not have the necessary consent. Eighteen percent (18%) of voters are not sure.

However, 63% of the Political Class think the government has the consent of the governed, but only six percent (6%) of those with Mainstream views agree.

Seventy-one percent (71%) of all voters now view the federal government as a special interest group, and 70% believe that the government and big business typically work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors.

That helps explain why 75% of voters are angry at the policies of the federal government, and 63% say it would be better for the country if most members of Congress are defeated this November. Just 27% believe their own representative in Congress is the best person for the job.

This is an excellent posting that echos the discontent with the American public.

If only this data could in some way garner the attention of politicians, but I contend they already know this fact and have been doing everything in their power to continue to ignore and to deny any such fact while they continue to rob the American public of our rights and liberties.

Couldn't have said it better myself.... I would assume the same, that they have known about this forever, and are doing everything in their power to stay in power... However I do find it Ironic that they do the exact opposite of what is needed to garner political support

21!%? I can't believe it's that high. Some must find comfort in slavery. Going point A to point B at the direction of someone else. Eyes closed, blind leading the blind. I suppose some have to support the illusion we are experiencing now or it would just fold in on itself.

I thought it would be higher than that just considering the amount of morans and people with blinders on our there that don't want to wake up

I'm surprised this issue isn't getting more attention...
