"Roxxxy the sex robot has had a coming out party in Sin City.

In what is billed as a world first, a life-size robotic girlfriend complete with artificial intelligence and flesh-like synthetic skin was introduced to adoring fans at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas on Saturday (local time).

"She can't vacuum, she can't cook but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean," TrueCompanion's Douglas Hines said".

I don't know whether to laugh or groan at this story.I suppose it is an advance in some regards,though the blue-chip stock of hand cream company's may dip a little.

What ramifications could this possibly have?Is this the start of a revolution?

One or two things though. First of all it was a woman that designed and created this robot. I have the evidence.

Another thing although im not into relationships with R2D2`s mate in drag wonder whose the first to go bare back knowing that theres as much chance gettinf zapped as climbing a pylon wrapped in foil

I am not sure what is more frightening about that article-

The virtual wife swap feature or this statement from the creator

"I had a friend who passed away in 9/11," Mr Hines said. "I promised myself I would create a program to store his personality, and that became the foundation for Roxxxy True Companion."

Sounds like there are things he really wished he had the chance to share with his friend. Maybe it is just me. It almost sounds like a used car salesman trying to slap a 9/11 sob story on his item to get into papers.

Hope the creator hasnt learnt it to talk too. The creators obviously a woman due to the wide birth given to housework and cooking during programming it lmfho

jesus...i can see it now...if they get this doll close to what a woman can do sexually?...then a date night will be a viagra pill and a "reality doll" ....men will be staying home...the bars will be empty... clubs close from lack of business, even mainstreet hookers giving discounts for lack of customers.

and if women get their well proportioned, intelligently motorized, and endowed, "hunk doll" ....well....population control will not be a pressing concern

Might be baby steps, but it seems that we are a far cry from Cherry 2000. But then again some of the depictions in that film have come to pass to a degree.

Futurama had an entire episode about this. It had been deemed improper for boys to date robots because they did not need to impress them so they did not need to have good jobs or educations or do anything and society suffered for all the horny little men in crappy apartments with their perfect love. You could use a blank robot and download anyone you wanted into it from "Kidnnapster"

I don't get that impression from watching the demonstration video. It's mostly a fat, clueless engineer babbling about technology while the robot sits completely stationary in a lounge chair.

Presenter: "it's a self contained robot. She has a computer, she has IO-boards, she has motors, she has servos, she has a battery pack, uhh...she has a (garbled), she has touch uhhh, sensors, pressure sensors throughout her body. So for instance if I touch her here..."

Roxxxy: "I love to hold hands with you."

Sorry guys, I'm not impressed. Leave this stuff to the Japanese. They have a huge head start.
