Watch this and relate your feelings and thoughts please...
Oh Pioneers Levi commercial

Everything about this video makes me uneasy and looks and feels completely
sinister...even outright EVIL to me... Anyone else??
Exactly what are they extolling our youths to "pioneer", explore and conquer here?
Even the bits of the classic poem narrated sound sinister and...wrong...to me!

(Grrrr....can't figure out embedding, sorry! )

It's just hipster, pseudo-intelligent bs. Levi is a hipster jean company, they're just trying to reach their target demographic. And god knows they love their "ironic" poems (hipster Irony means that once something becomes so unpopular, it comes back on t-shirts etc. like if you had a Thundercats shirt.) So take a old Walt Whitman poem and set it to indie-hipster people running around in black and white and you have a commercial that "they" can watch and get some message out of it, and then go out and buy some red skinny jeans. Not evil, just a retarded phase of society.

It's straight out of Mad Men Advertising 101. If you want to solidify that you're hip, cool, adventurous, young, energetic, etc., you'll be in Levi's jeans. It's the same strategy that's used in the new Apple iPod Nano commercial:
