AUSTRALIA will have a white Christmas - we are now the world's most profitable market for coc aine cartels.

A confidential Australian Federal Police report reveals a "generational shift" towards coc aine has pushed demand for the drug to unprecedented levels, with prices to match.

In the US a kilo of coc aine is worth about $35,000, but here the street price is a staggering $190,000 a kilo.

With international drug networks targeting Australia, coc aine seizures have skyrocketed since 2003, the internal AFP report says.

Have a read of this article, it's fairly interesting. Ultimately, when the price per kilo is worth more in Australia - the numbers tell the story.

$190,000 per kilogram ensures that there's plenty of money around to bribe whoever is needed to maintain constant supply.

To think that leaves of the coca plant could be so profitable!

Maybe this will mean supplies headed for the USA will instead turn to Australia.

On a separate note, coc aine wouldn't cost so much if there wasn't billions of annual dollars pumped into "stamping out" competition for the big drug cartels.

Most drug addicts could lead relatively normal lives, if their substances cost even remotely near the price of production.

In short, the war on drugs causes more harm than the drugs themselves.

From what I heard in an interview, here in the US, drug dealers can buy a kilo of coc aine from Colombian cartels for as low as $1000US.

Indeed, why is it (at least here in South Africa) that every time cops make a mediocre drug bust that people hear on the news that it was worth millions and billions?
Drug war propaganda, or do the cops just get ripped-off a lot?
