31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

The "left" does always seem to want God removed from everywhere, schools, public areas, etc, etc....perhaps deep inside they "know" they are cursed....

The passage above was written at least 2000 years ago....

The right has aways been slammed in the left leaning media for having "christian" values.....slammed for basically wanting to keep the commandments.

The left have been called "Godless" by those on the right......perhaps there is more to all the finger pointing and name calling.

"The terms Left and Right have been used to refer to political affiliation since the early part of the French Revolutionary era. They originally referred to the seating arrangements in the various legislative bodies of France, specifically in the French Legislative Assembly of 1791, when the king was still the formal head of state, and the moderate royalist Feuillants sat on the right side of the chamber, while the radical Montagnards sat on the left.[9] This traditional seating arrangement continues to be observed by the Senate and National Assembly of the French Fifth Republic."

The modern term of left and right has very little relevance in the biblical sense. If you perchance want to point out that sinister is latin for left handed we could discuss the implications of historic thought.

I had always considered the fact that Jesus was left leaning politically by today's standards.

Perhaps you need to rethink your concept. Jesus followed perfectly the teachings of his Father. He sits at the "right hand" of his Father.

Perhaps what you see as political sybolisim has deeper meaning...

The concept of left and right politics as a descriptive term is a modern invention, and cannot be applied to the historic account as relevant. If Jesus stood on his Father's right side it does not denote that he is a right leaning political idealist.

You miss the point entirely.....its not about politics its about actions which get labled or seen as left or right.

Those trends do seem to follow through with the passage in Matt 25...

ok I'll try to explain my position on your premise in another way.

The bible was written 2000 years ago. The concept of left and right labels for political ideology would not be developed until 1791.

To quote from the book of mathew and say it refers to this modern concept of political thought, is where I'm disagreeing with you.

If you want to state that the "left" are cursed or God hates them that debate can be done. I just don't think your starting premise holds given the history of the terms.

For the majority of people, the dominant hand is the right hand. That is the "right" way of doing things. Although left-handed people were recognized throughout history, they were always a minority and were viewed with suspicion.

The Latin word for 'right' is 'dexter', from which we get "dexterous", "dexterity", and so on. The Latin word for left is 'sinister'. In French it's 'gauche'.

I think this is just the ancient mistrust of those who were different or in a minority, a reflection of the tribalism of the time. It's not that God hates the left. It's that the authors of the Bible were suspicious of the left.

First, the title of this thread is ridiculously inflamatory.
Second, I don't think the god of your bible would hate anyone or anything, not even Lucifer.
Finally, I doubt 'god' would condem whole swaths of good, decent people for relatively minor 'sins'. (i.e. Ghandi burning for not accepting Jesus.)

I was suspicious of some of the other posting in another recent thread created by this poster, to the extent that I wondered whether it was satire.

However, now, having read this thread and the seemingly purposeful conflation between two very, very different issues - given the particular wording, how is that not political baiting when placed in context with the poster's threads elsewhere? - it's impossible for me to not see this poster as a troll from this point onwards.

Don't worry yourself HeliosPrime.

God doesn't hate the left - he just hates you. He put the left here to annoy and confound you. I wouldn't be surprised if he spoke to Karl Marx and said -

"Hey Karl, hows it hanging? Cheers for the beers last night. Just thought I'd let you know that I'm going to teach you all about Socialism and you can be the founder, so that you can annoy an internet troll called HeliosPrime in 2009. Yeah he's yet another idiot religious fundamentalist. Yup - a douche."

Get a grip, and go back to your other idiot trolls in the church. Don't do it online - we don't care.

Oh food grief Charlie Brown.

Then God hates:
- me, because I am left handed.
- a vast section of his own creation (the left)
- many languages because it is written left to right.
- countries that drive on the left side of the road (too bad UK, God hates you)

All of those are just as ridiculous as your thread, OP.

Ergo:

I agree ........ The thread has an agenda -- political bait.

But you fail to mention that the OP is just as harsh, if not more so for having the original thought as opposed to the reaction of said thought, claiming that a benevolent creator hates millions of its own creation?

OP did not call the evil left idiots or douches though...
I do not see his as harsh, it is his opinion (or maybe not and just wanting an argument)
Believe me I am left wing and I do not care about someone saying God hates me because of some obscure reference tied to present day things of no connection, it is just their opinion. But name calling doesnt help anything

Ridhya - you're entirely correct, I apologise whole heartedly for using nasty words. It's been a tough day for me.

Instead, I'm going to pronounce holy DOOM upon all mankind. DOOM, DOOM and more unadulterated DOOM! Yes, DOOM I tell you.

Does anyone want any DOOM? DOOM to clean up on aisle four.

um, but,, but,,, man wrote that. GOD does not send us paper with text on it. So why does MAN hate the left should be the title.

Even thought the OP was attempting to lead us in a particular direction, the comment that was made at one point really sums up the whole debate.

God is not capable of hating the left, it is the left that hates God.

That was my initial thought as well, but then I had to ask why did the liberal party pick the left and not the right? Why is left-handedness seen as a negative trait? Southpaw anyone? Is there some sort of universal truth to this.

At first I thought I was on to something when I discovered that Obama is left-handed, Bush right-handed, Clinton left-handed. This theory of course died when I discovered that Carter was right-handed. And your left hand is controlled by the right side of your brain. That just mixes up everything on this subject.

It's Probably just a coincidence that the goats are on the left, but it's thoughtful of you to make note of this fact. By the way, forks are supposed to be placed to the left of the plate when you set the table. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
