Kevin Rudd's website hacked over internet censorship

www.news.com.au

THE Prime Minister's website has been hacked into in protest over proposed reforms of internet censorship....
A message posted on the Inquisitor website by the hacker, known as Anonymous, stated that the action was in response to a Federal Government proposal to introduce mandatory internet filtering.....
The posting complains that the proposal to introduce internet filtering would block legal content, and take censorship to levels like that seen in China.

The posting, titled "Anonymous vs the Australian Government", also gives a blow-by-blow account of the hacker's progress.

Senator Conroy has been quiet about his internet censorship of Australia's Net which will be slowing us down up to 70%!!

What a Dill this Senator Conroy is his proposal is down right Stupid and a Failure from the beginning yet his going on with it which to me seems only to Save Face!!

Senator Conroy is more than a Dill!!!!!

You know I can think of several ways of protesting this internet censorship plan and hacking the government website for it isn't one of them.

Without a doubt hacking will do more harm for the no censorship movement than good, it just strengthens the cause for censorship by default.

Poor form.

Exactly. It's like protesting a National ID Card by committing acts of identity theft. All this hacker has done is confirm in his government's eyes the need for stricter censorship laws.

If implementing this filter will slow down our internet speeds by as much as 70% as they say ( even it is only by 40% ) I can't see how anyone, especially ISP's will stand for this...???

They will basically take us back to 128 ISDN style speeds...

Our internet is already too expensive, and not up to par with other 1st world nations speeds / prices..

Yet we will be expected to PAY MORE to cover the costs of this filter..

Unless they can find a way of implementing the filter without affecting speeds AT ALL, none whatsoever...then it won't be implemented..

Mr Conroy will commit career suicide if he goes through with this

I think he is saying that internet censorship is not equal to internet hacking, or has little to do with it.

It's like saying automatic cars are the same as automatic can openers. They're similar in some ways, but not the same thing.

But of course, as displayed, this will be ignored. Not that hacking the government is smart, it's very stupid, and generally from what I read, it's "script kiddies" set up to take the blame.

Sweet mate
can't say I noticed it, I thought about taking mine down 2weeks ago but first though I must see what Conroy's been up too as it's been to quite on this Filter proposal so I guess Anonymous must of foreseen an Action about to start, these Trials being Conducted by small ISP's are near end or ended.

In protest one can always Boycott the ISP's that participated in this Trial

Banning filthy, degrading, zombifying porn is fine with me and I'll support them

Using eradication of porn as means of censoring political content on the other hand, I will fight

If enough people care, Rudd is in for a short stay at the Lodge

But hey, it's Ostray-lyuh, so who knows ?

I think the hack was just a heads up to the Government as to what these guys are capable of.

They have called for the resignation of a federal minister, and that hasn't happened so we may expect round 2 soon.

Annonymous Website

How far will they take it?
