but, more than likely, you pay taxes, and some of that taxmoney is going to pay for those lazy couch potatoes healthcare.....

and as far as the cellphones, and whatever else was on that long list of things that people are buying instead of their healthcare....
well, those poor people who are getting their healthcare compliments of the taxpayer, seem to have cellphones also, they have cars, some nicer than what I am driving, they have suitable housing, are able to heat their homes in the winter (and even open their windows wide open in the middle of winter "to air the place out"..)

like I said, why should the taxpayer's money be going to provide a better standard of living to the poor than the taxpayer is enjoying themselves...if we can't afford the healthcare system, well, we have no business footing the bill for someone else...and the gov't doesn't have any taking o ur money to do it!

I can hardly believe the ignorance of some people who think that those without the ability to purchase overbloated health care insurance packages are the scum of the earth.

Its unbelievable and shocking to hear the sheer stupidity and willful hatefulness about people you know nothing about. Talk about stereo-typing and political correct thought...

My sister happens to have been working for the same company for the last 20 years. She was unfortunate in life and unable to obtain her high school diploma. She is not the most intelligent on the IQ scale but has worked her butt off as a seamstress in a major city for less than $10.00 per hour. Last year, she finally got a $00.25 raise. No benefits whatsoever. She doesn't have any other skills or training and is extremely grateful to have the job she has. She raised both of her children by herself despite the lack she labors under. I am proud of her and the hundreds of thousands of people like her.

People, please stop and think a moment before you lump everyone into a category that is the farthest from the truth about people you don't know anything about.

This system is not set up to help anyone. It is set up to keep people from achieving success. Once a person finds themselves in a situation without options and accepts government assistance, it takes a SUPREME amount of effort, patience, sacrifice and willpower to get out from UNDER their help. Not everyone is as intelligent as you and I. Have some compassion for people who are doing their best to keep themselves afloat without government assistance. These people have pride and ethics. They work hard and have very little to show for their efforts.

My god!

Are you serious?

Do you mean government healthcare will be efficient and have practically no waste which will curb costs just like medicare, medicaid, welfare and the USPS?

Come on, you cannot be serious. Anything the government touches turns to crap regardless of the initial intentions. Get a grip on reality. Medicare and Medicaid is what is mainly driving up healthcare costs.

Why would this be government plan be any different? Have you actually read the plan? Take a look here:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

We have the POTENTIAL of having the world's best healthcare in this country

Umm....we already have the best healthcare in the world. Obama's plan will change that. All we have to do now is just tweak the current system a little and NOT reinvent the wheel with Obama care.

Actually, the USA is listed as 37.

The World Health Organization's ranking
of the world's health systems.

www.photius.com...

Though this was the study from 2000, they have not updated it since then. I would bet that as things have become worse in this country, that we are would now be lower on the list than in 2000.

The United States has by far the most expensive health care system in the world. Does that make it better? Nope!

dll.umaine.edu...

Its latest report, ranked the United States last or next-to-last compared with five other nations — Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom — on most measures of performance, including quality of care and access to it. Other comparative studies also put the United States in a relatively bad light.

We need health care reform, but what I am seeing taking place, I don't believe is going to do it. I think it is very sad.

Harm None

My story: In 2001 I was laid off from my environmental consulting job. I had Cobra coverage for 2 months and then started a new job. I no longer qualified for Cobra, but my new health insurance had not kicked in yet. Within a week of starting my new job, I was hospitalized with kidney stones. Needless to say, my bill was OUTRAGEOUS. I could not afford to pay the bill and they (the hospital's bill collectors) were calling and harassing me no less than twice a day for 2 months; threatening to file a lien against my home and ruin my credit rating. Now, I did not qualify for Cobra, Medicare or Medicaid. This was a troubling time for me to say the least.

NOW, I ask the OP this: WHERE was my health care coverage that you say I Supposedly had ALREADY? You know where it came from? MY CREDIT CARDS!!!!! And I ended up paying that bill off over a 5 year span and, with credit card interest rates I ended up paying 2x the original bill...

to ANYONE who believes WE already have comprehensive health care in the USA. I call BS and have the experience to prove it.

So for clarification, you DID get the necessary treatment right? You were hospitalized and did not die in the streets right? Unlike the national healthcare system in other coutries where it would have taken you weeks or months to get the proper treatment.

So you were hospitalized and expect NOT to pay?
Of course the hospital is going to try and get their money. It's not cheap having the hospitals pay for all the illegal aliens getting treatment.

Using your story, we don't have a healthcare problem, we have a cost problem. The U.S. can easily do some reforms to tweak the system and bring costs down BUT we don't have to reinvent the wheel and totally ruin our healthcare system by going to socialism.

Yes, costs need to go down...ABSOLUTELY!!! BUT, there will NEVER be legislation passed that will focus DIRECTLY on lower costs. Not with Health Care Lobbyists greasing the pockets of everyone on Capitol Hill. SO, the only way to control it is to nationalize health care...the Doctors/hospitals will be forced to take the amount the govt. pays or get nothing at all. If I had not signed my life away back in 2001, then I would have been turned away from that hospital and very likely WOULD HAVE died! It was not ANY health care plan that save me...It was my good credit that did.

If Obama's plan is so bad and Republicans plan is so good, then why the hell didn't Bush pursue the avenue of reducing health care costs? During his administration the costs of health care increased approximately 3x. At least Obama is making this THE issue...and it should be.

Now, I don't know where you get the notion of people in other countries waiting MONTHS to get the care they need. So far as I know, the people that live in countries with nationalized health care seem to be HAPPY with what they get. Sure, you hear a horror story here and there, but that goes for anything. I can find just as many horror stories from people that pay good money hand over fist for their private insurance...just to get screwed over. So, no system is perfect...but this is a damn sight better than what we currently have.

US currently ranks 37th in the world by the WHO on health care systems.

The list:

1 France
2 Italy
3 San Marino
4 Andorra
5 Malta
6 Singapore
7 Spain
8 Oman
9 Austria
10 Japan
11 Norway
12 Portugal
13 Monaco
14 Greece
15 Iceland
16 Luxembourg
17 Netherlands
18 United Kingdom
19 Ireland
20 Switzerland
21 Belgium
22 Colombia
23 Sweden
24 Cyprus
25 Germany
26 Saudi Arabia
27 United Arab Emirates
28 Israel
29 Morocco
30 Canada
31 Finland
32 Australia
33 Chile
34 Denmark
35 Dominica
36 Costa Rica
37 United States of America

That is just not true. There has been legislation to deal with this but the dems would always shoot it down.

Not true. The hospital would have treated you. Look, if they treat illegals they would have treated you. If you went in the emergency room, they will treat you first then ask for payment.

Think about it for a second. If Obama's plan is so great, why did Congress excempt themselves and all federal employees from having to participate in Obama's plan.

Another point: Perhaps for people like yourself, they should ease the requirements for Medicare so you could have some coverage instead of drastically changing to a socialist system which will ruin everything.

US currently ranks 37th in the world by the WHO on health care systems.

I commented on this a few posts back but I will repeat myself.

The real problem in the medical field is government intervention point blank. People can beg for a single payer health plan but all thats going to do is send more money to the crooks. The US government stepped in the 80's to prevent a glut of doctors because to many people were going into medical school. Yes You heard me right they stepped in and started shutting down medical schools and putting caps on the amount of students they accept every year and the amount of doctors that graduate every year. So in essence the #ed the american people because doctors would have had to compete and make less money due to the numbers. So the government stepped in and prevented the free markets from working. Now We have a patient to doctor ratio of 900 to 1 and it shows. Notice how You get treated when the doctor is a older doctor and how much different You get treated when its a young unestablished doctor. I recently had a very bad gum infection that put me down for 2 weeks. I went to one dentist a older more established dentist and I was treated like I went through the drive thru. This man charged me 55 bucks just for 5 minutes of work and told me it was all in my head. The next day my whole upper lip was swollen up and I looked like homer simpson. I went to a clinic the next day and I was given a shot of cortisone and sent home with some pain pills. The problem didn't get any better so I went to the old ladies dentist which was a young dentist fresh out of school. This man treated me like a valued customer and worked with me until the problem was solved. The moral of the story is the first #er sent me a bill in the mail and the second dentist sent me a thank You card.....

The whole point is there is not enough doctors so they can get away with treating You like crap and charging You an arm and a leg. Don't give me the BS about malpractise lawsuits because if doctors actually had to compete for Your work they would do a better job. Why on earth do We hear about family doctors that would make house calls from our grandmothers while today We are lucky if We don't have to wait 8 hours to see a doctor while We go to them......

There are not enough doctors and You won't fix the problem with a band aid. The best way to fix this is to flood the market with doctors and let them tear into each other like rabid dogs.......

If You think I am full of crap then read USA today because they have done several articles on the doctor shortage....

I don't ever want to see so called free medical because guess what its not free. I pay 3700 a month in taxes while I work out of country to support my family. So guess what I am supposedly a rich man according to all these dems but I assure You my life sucks hard core especially since I spend 9 months away from my family. I have now spent 3 months on this derrick barge and I'll be leaving pretty soon to go home for 2 weeks.... So the idea of me getting charged more taxes so some lazy POS can have free health care makes me want to pick up a gun.....

Now on the other hand I do not have a problem with cheap health care which can be attained if the government gets the hell out of the way. So the choice is between free health care that everyone can benefit from or government health care that only the poor benefit from and the middle class has to pay... My decision is pretty easy because I am not selfish unlike most people.

I'm a dual citizen US and New Zealand, been in NZ for 10yrs so will probably renounce US soon. Medical care here is pretty awesome if you ask me. We had a child and have never paid a cent to have it, get medical care up to age 6 for them etc. We have mainly free public health care but I opt to get private too full family coverage for $50US a month. I've used it for a few operations and was majorly impressed. Why can't the US look at other countries and see this is a GOOD thing!! I mean FFS there was this dude on reddit the other day who ended up with a $150,000 bill for his childs birth! It's insanity. But what you have are rich folks with good care saying it ain't broken, what would they care about the average joe going bankrupt from medical expenses. sigh

Why don't we just get rid of the Insurance. You pay as you go to the Doctor or Hospital. Take the Insurance Companies out of it. Prescriptions you should be able to import. Did you ever hear the opposition. Be real. They want to control you any way you move. Why cannot we be free. Go to any Doctor we want. If one Doctor is busy, we should be able to go to another one. Or if we just coughing go to the pharmacist and ask for cough medicine prescription strength. After all this happens in 3rd world countries and their cost is not so high. Unless they are seriously sick it is then when they have to pay high price but still they don't have health rationing. Medicine is cheap. When the health Cartel have no business, everything will come crashing down. They want to control you. You miss the appointment you have to pay out of your pocket. When was the last time to had to pay for an item you called for but couldn't show up in time.

Check out this quote from Nancy Pelosi regarding Obama's Healthcare Plan being a "GIFT":

Transcript

I am very confident that we will be on schedule, and we will be able to present a wonderful gift to the American people, a gift of confidence, a gift of peace of mind

She must really be on drugs or something. How stupid does she think we are? Isn't there a saying which says something like "Beware of people bearing gifts"

What is going on with this ''health care'' issue?

We already have health care and health insurance in America.
What do you think we are a bunch of dimwits with a box of band-aids?

We have the best health care. You can get patched up and you're on your way. They send you a bill and you pay for it or work out a payment plan. What more do you want?

You can purchase a health insurance policy just like auto damage insurance, drivers liability insurance, homeowners insurance, renters insurance, flood insurance, life insurance, some crazy I'm going to go play with a tiger insurance. You can insure ANYTHING even your hands if you're a doctor or your sweet patootie if your a model.

You know what the real problem is? It is all the stuff that people buy instead of buying health insurance.

They buy the nicest cell phone every six months.
They buy the most expensive unlimited text and data plan each month.
They buy the finest cars and boats and recreational vehicles.
They buy $100 bag of weed every week and then ''awww mayne I cain't pay da bills yo!''
They buy video games systems and new games each month.

It is PATHETIC.

The best answer is to keep health insurance on the market like all other insurance policies.
If you don't have it, you pay for whatever you can afford when you visit the doctor.
If you can't pay then die.
That will help the unemployment numbers and the over population problem.
Do you think the world owes you something?
Do you just want to sit on the couch and get drunk and high and play video games and then get a free ride on somebody who is working?

This is unbelievable how the Left has brainwashed people into being mindless sponges.

It's unbelievable that you can chew gum and walk at the same time. Read up on the issue before spouting nonsense like this..there are Americans suffering due to the state of health care in this country today despite what the fools on Fox News tell you. I know people who have insurance and are getting wiped out financially regardless and I've seen small business have to close due to the costs of health care. Wake up already.

well, let's see....

I've spent about the last six or so years, watching my legs and feet deteriorate. I've worked during this time, and there was a time when I didn't, my hubands was laid off for awhile, and my income (not more that $10.00/hr, and his unemployement was the only income for a family of five. I raised my kids to adulthood. I have asked for help through that time, with the many different variables (husband working me not, me working, husband on unemployement, ect. and not once did we qualify!) I would try to get medical attention, but then the bills would become so overwelming, well, there was times when there was nothing left to get to work on because the doctor just had to try this or that drug...
and well....I watched, no diagnosis, no job, no disability, since there was no diagnosis, till my ankle broke....and well, I asked again....
yep, emergency room would help, they put a splint on the ankle....referred me to a specialist....nope doctor wouldn't help, not without a medicaid card, and insurance card, or a few thousand dollars down payment....I hadn't been working for close to a year, and my husband was unemployed for about six months before that. we didn't have a few thousand dollars...nope social service wouldn't help, they just pointed to my husband's money and told me I had plenty! I had three kids, I couldn't even get my husband to feed the danged kids, or me for that matter while I was laid up with a splint on my leg, but ya, I am suspose to weasle a few thousand out of the guy! well, I did the math every which way during that week that I was laying around with that splint on my leg, there was no way that I could find to incorporate how we were susposed to have the money for me to have had insurance, or how we were susposed to have managed to save a few thousand. I am convinced that if that little state legislature didn't come to my aid, well, the operation wouldn't have been done at all, I would not be walking at the moment, heck, I don't know, what is the result of not getting a broken bone treated, who knows, I might be dead for all I know....
and, yet, through those years, I know that money was taken from me, to give to the "pet's". I wasn't the ones calling the lazy or stupid, I call them pets, it's like the gov't goes to the near animal shelter with all the lost and lonely animals, and picks out the ones they like the best, and well, takes them home, feeds them, cares for thems....the rest are left to fate!!

in all, I think I've run up more medical bills the past six or so years that I have been able to earn!! and yet, oh ya, I can afford my healthcare....heck, I can even afford to give a little so that others can have theirs on my dime...
oh, I think I understand things completely....
it's the ones that aren't blessed by society with great paychecks and benefits, and are too stupid to stop trying, kick their husbands out and raise their kids alone, be a ward of the state, well, they are the scum of the earth, who cares if they live or die, or if some disease slowly (and painfully) eats away on their body!!
it's not the "poor" that are complaining about not having healthcare, it's not those that are too mentally handicapped to hold a job, it's not the drug addicts or alchoholics, it's not the single moms who are popping kids out of them every year in exchange for a nice long paid vacation on the taxpayer's expense!!
most of them are being taken care of already but gov't programs.
it is people who are working, are paying taxes! and some seem to just love to make them out to be the scum of the earth!
Standing on my feet hurts!! and well, just because the healthcare system is built the way it is....I HAVE TO WORK, I HAVE TO STAND ON THOSE FEET!! I HAVE TO KEEP WALKING, EVEN WHEN I WISH THE HELL THERE WAS SOMETHING AROUND ME TO GRAB HOLD OF BECAUSE I AM AFRAID I'M GONNA HIT THE GROUND! AND YES, SOMETIMES I DO HIT THE GROUND!!

but, yes, I understand, your sister is a tad bit "stupid" (your words not mine!! I'd say she, like many others are being exploited!!), here's a ten, out of my wallet, I know how important it is to go and get treatment for the common cold!
