"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A former commanding general of the District of Columbia National Guard -- who ordered jets over the Capitol amid the September 11, 2001, terror attacks -- was among those killed in a transit train crash in Washington this week, authorities said Tuesday."

"On the morning of the September 11 attacks, Wherley, commander of the 113th Fighter Wing at Andrews Air Force Base, deployed pilots with orders from then-Vice President Dick Cheney to protect the White House and take out any aircraft that threatened the Capitol, according to the 9/11 Commission Report.

"They said challenge them, try to turn them away; if they don't turn away, use whatever force is necessary to keep them from hitting buildings downtown," Wherley told the Washington Post in a 2002 interview."

This man took orders from Cheney. This man knows the truth or at least a major part of the puzzle. He may have ordered jets to shoot down Flight 93.

Computer failure? Sounds very suspicious to me. I would not be surprised if the man was a loose end that has just been tied up.

Only 9 dead, 76 injured and dozens unscathed from the crash.

There is absolutely no way to assure he'd be killed.

If he were a 'loose end' that needed to be tied up, it would have happened long before now. And if someone were going to tie up a 'loose end' they wouldn't do it so haphazardly as to stage a metro crash that may or may not take out the intended mark.

Flight 93 wasn't shot down. It probably would have been, but it crashed before the jets got there. Enough witness's on the ground verify this.

I agree with Chadwickus. Taking out a train to kill one person is a very inefficient and unreliable way of killing someone, unless it was actually meant to be a high speed impact that killed everyone or he was already dead when the train hit and the wreck was a cover.

Simply put, it would have been easier to sabotage the brake lines on a rental car or something.

If murder was the motive and they wanted to make it happen on a train why not something a little more subtle like "murder on the Orient Express"? That was a good plot and spawned a couple of 1962 movies, one titled "Phoney Express" and another titled "From Russia with love". 1962 was the last year the Orient Express operated, its heyday was back in the 1930s when there was all kinds of covert action going on board with diplomats and Curriers traveling across Europe.
