Very strange "Ring" UFO sighting at King's Dominion Virginia!

This reminds me quite a bit of the Ft. Belvoir, VA photos taken Sept. 1957 by Pvt. George L. Stofko, Jr. brought to NICAPs attention through Z.J. Halaut and Don Berliner. Ralph Rankow, a NICAP photographic adviser, and Dr. James E. McDonald, a senior atmospheric physicist, investigated the case. More details also in Ann Druffel's book Firestorm (p 309-324).

According to Jack Strong, an alleged ex-soldier stationed at Ft. Belvoir, something called an "atomic bomb simulator" (a series of high explosives in a circular arrangement) can cause this effect.

I disagree. This is not the first time such a ring has been seen in the sky. A famous case from 1957 and mentioned in this very thread indicates to me that there is much more to this than meets the eye.

Oddly to me it is case closed because "some dude" just happened to be there on the day says it was a 'blah blah' you are willing to accept a case closed? This is uncorroborated. The link in Clint's post only adds to the mystery as the people at the end of that link are not thinking about the ring just about the laughs they are getting from this thread.

An ETwould have to jam a bus sized probe up their backsides before they noticed something weird was going on and even then they would only assume the ride was broken.

Something smells fishy here and it is not me.

PS no offence is meant to you Clint (administrator of linked fan site) but your post seemed very convenient from where I am sitting with my crinkly yet comfortable tinfoil hat.

What your talking about is described below from a wiki entry. They are commonly known as "Wilson condensation clouds" and are created by nuclear blasts.

Nuclear mushroom clouds are often also accompanied by short-lived vapor clouds, "Wilson condensation clouds," also known as vapor rings. These are created by the blast wave causing a sudden drop in the surrounding air temperatures, causing water vapor in the air to condense around the explosion cloud.

if this is really just from the volcano there than it Must be Repeatable right?
show us more photos, obviously it is repeated often?

lets see more pics of how this happens a lot from this volcano

Probably the most helpful thing said on this thread! I would also like to see some pictures of the coaster producing the rings. Videos would be even better.

Once again, I'm on the fence about this whole thing BUT would love to see some proof that this is NORMAL. Thanks to all who are contributing!

First i want to thank Clint for coming on to ATS to post his thoughts on the matter,

I'm sure there all wondering what the heck is going on, And how this has suddenly became such a big story around the Internet,

I first heard about it via Twitter and other places which led me to jump in and see what other info there was about it, I'm glad that the Coaster fan site have came forward to give us there impression on what has occurred,

I'm just wondering though..like muzzleflash states above If this happens all the time i would love to see future photos of it, That way if re created then im sure it would put to rest the whole UFO idea..

Am I the only one who notices that the clouds are moving at about 20 mph but this thing is perfectly distinct and razor edged until the video stops? More likely it some form of craft with a cloaking device of some type that semi-failed because of the cloud cover below it. To each their own. Some of us have seen things that prove to us unequivocally that we are not alone even here on Earth.

Just because low altitude can appear still 100's of meters above the jet stream can be blowing at forces of above 100 mph.

It happens so often I am guessing people never thought they needed to get photos of it. I will be at the park tomorrow and if its not windy they will have the flams on and I will get a few shoots.

They do not run the flams if its windy because of the chance it could damage the track.

You can hear the rumblings throughout the park. You can see the smoke rings float in the sky from atop other rides.

Sorry Zen, had had a couple to drink when i wrote that. Basically what i was saying was just because at low altitude something appears still the clouds at high altitude can be moving at 100's of mph due to the jet stream.

This explains why the clouds above can be moving and the "smoke ring" can be almost stationary in the sky. Also because of the higher clouds moving the "smoke ring" may just appear to be standing still.

Hello everyone I was reading this topic and decided to make a first post to point out my observation here.

If you look at the video you can notice a couple a things.

1. the position of the camera stays upright or very close to looking to the sky the whole time.

2. as the camera moves so does this ring very little as the camera is only slightly moved from left to right and twisted slightly from the start. even when zoomed its moved little and you can see the clouds pass in the background and seem to pull to the front.

3. as the camera zooms in on the object its size hardly changes the edges seem more defined and differs little from the much larger trees in in the background and seems to even get closer to the trees. the trees got huge and defined the object changed only slightly

pause the video and slide through it slowly and ask yourself if it seems like maybe a drop of water is the culprit. thats just my .02

Thank you. Please don't judge us all by this. Some want to believe so badly that they get angry if everything they see is not a Alien filled UFO.

You will now be called names by some. Others will pretend they never saw your post and continue as if it were never posted. Others don't bother to read threads and post after the anomaly is identified. In other words a normal board on the Internet.

One thing is for sure, you will at some point in the future find a pic of this in a book you can buy and the Coaster won't even be mentioned.

its a ride. you can clearly see the tower that the "mystery ring" is on a tall-

im just kidding.

That steam circle thing from the first page seems to be the likely cause.
