I am a longtime lurker on ATS and just joined after learning of a recent rash of sightings here in the mountains of Colorado. (I did several searches, and did find some recent Colorado incidents, but no thread that covered them all - if I am wrong, please point me in the right direction).

Beginning May 4, 2009 and continuing through May 9, 2009 there were multiple sightings in the Colorado mountains including the Vail/Avon, Summit County area and the Aspen/Basalt area. Additionally, in late April, 2009, another incident included an encounter with a "being."

This link contains a good summary of events prepared by a local UFO investigator, in the form of a letter to the local newspaper:

The UFOs Northwest site has brief accounts of each sighting as well:

April 26 - Basalt, CO

May 4 - Frisco, CO

May 6 - Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Wow. I'm in Colorado and the only things I see in the skies are military jets and commercial planes.

And I spend a lot of time outside in this beautiful state looking up day and night.

Sucks to be me!

Unfortunately these sightings have nothing substantial and are just stories from anonymous people (allegedly). The one photo is not the original photo and there is absolutely no frame of reference - it could be anything including dirt on a window or camera lens - it can not be analyzed at all.

Thanks for sharing though

i commonly see "chemtrails" around summit co area. call them what you like.....they dont disapear shortly after coming out of the jet....they hang in the air and spread out creating widespread cloud cover. jets fly over in criss crossing patterns...sometimes like a tic tac toe box or sometimes just X's. but i guess thats normal right...since chemtrails dont exist....kinda like all those ops we ran in laos during the vietnam war....those didnt exist...we were never in laos.....LOL

OMG! This is place of my UFO sighting, in 1977. I was about 2 miles below Dillon Dam, in Silverthorne. Silverthorne had about 50 people living there in 1977.

It was at sun set, we were fishing in the Blue River, actually in a pond right off the Blue River and I was baiting my hook (salmon eggs), and all of a sudden a silver disc appeared in the sky, shot across the sky right in front of me (maybe 1000 feet above me), with the mountains (Gore Range) in the back ground. There were little portals or windows (?) all the around the saucer. I saw it for 8-10 seconds, enough time to focus on it and see the shape, color and the little portals. It moved up the valley towards the tunnel and disappeared right if front of my eyes.

It's something you don't forget, ever. Its still vivid in my mind. I reported it to HBCC(?). The guy I was with saw it for a couple of seconds. He was not anxious to say much about it. He did not have time to really focus on it.

I stopped telling people I had seen a UFO for many years, and some of my family still make fun of it. I decided a few years ago that I was way too old to worry about what people thought, I know what I saw and I will never forget it. Now I tell anyone when the time is appropriate.

Very strange these current sightings are almost the same place I saw mine, some 33 years ago (OMG).

Thanks for the GREAT post!

Also in Denver, and I too can't ever seem to see these mystery chemtrails. Just normal air activity (of which there is plenty), and the contrails never spread out to the point where they create 'cloudcover.." that would be a rather lot of contrails to achieve this.

I did watch a white object flying high through my sunroof as I sat in a very slow drivethru. I took a few pictures with my blackberry, only thing I had on me at the time, but at least on the Blackberry, I can make nothing out at all. I'm guessing it's a weather balloon, since it was white, large, and moved very slowly across the sky, without deviating. I'll have to see if I can upload those somehow to my computer and see if anything is there.

Pity though, not seen anything else.

Not to keep deviating off topic, but speaking of chemtrails and dissipating to create cloud cover, check out this site, there's a set of six pictures.

www.carnicom.com...

Got to say, I'm not quite convinced about there being anything sinister going on with chemtrails, looks like a fairly natural event to me given the winds aloft.

I have seen some strange things lately and I even snapped a few pictures of something I saw and posted them here but they were quickly dismissed as being some kind of bug in the shots, I would never have thought I'd actually see an object that I couldn't explain let alone photograph it, after seeing this it only sparked my interest that much more, i'll keep watching the skies here in CO.
