CIA Says Pelosi Was Briefed on Use of 'Enhanced Interrogations'

In a 10-page memo outlining an almost seven-year history of classified briefings, intelligence officials said that Pelosi and then-Rep. Porter Goss (R-Fla.) were the first two members of Congress ever briefed on the interrogation tactics. Then the ranking member and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, respectively, Pelosi and Goss were briefed Sept. 4, 2002, one week before the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

If it is true that Pelosi and then-Rep. Porter Goss (R-Fla.) were the first two members of Congress ever briefed on the interrogation tactics.

It makes me livid that she can bold face lie.

voices.washingtonpost.com...

In December 2007 the Washington Post reported that leaders of the House and Senate intelligence committees had been briefed in the fall of 2002 about waterboarding -- which simulates drowning -- and other techniques, and that no congressional leaders protested its use. At the time Pelosi said she was not told that waterboarding was being used, a position she stood by repeatedly last month when the Bush-era Justice Department legal documents justifying the interrogation tactics were released by Attorney General Eric Holder.

Hoping one day all these people get voted out.

Completely obvious.

It is why they wont really go after Bush's crimes. Many of them would fall too.

This news is a bit like learning Liberace was gay.

(I apologize in advance for the analogy, but it seems to work.)

Oh yes, there was never any doubt in my mind she was lying.

But why?

She must know of the records kept, but it seems politicians can lie and people choose to believe the lies.

Which makes me crazy.

I agree. If there was nothing pinning this on Pelosi too, they would string up George Bush and the rest of his administration for all the world to see.

I've always thought that anyone, who speaks so fervently, and adamantly on a topic. While LITERALLY pointing fingers.

Is diverting the truth, redirecting to make OTHERS appear to be the liars.

Finger pointing, Bill Clinton was famous for those gestures, when denying Monica. It's usually a dead giveaway that someone is deflecting the truth.

Yeah...he's even pointing with the wrong finger.

He should be using his middle finger instead.

He's a fraud, thief, liar, and defender of special interests...not to mention he controls and manipulates the media...has big business in his administration...uses extortion and strong arm tactics to get what he wants.

Great to see him carry on Bush's tradition of extortion and lies.

Look at all that has been done in 4 months.

NOW THINK ABOUT 4 YEARS.

Scared yet?

Cripes i just hope everything isn't in shambles by then.

Fair is fair. If people really want to see Bush tried than I see no reason why they wouldn't support seeing Pelosi right along side him. I just find it impossible that somebody with her power was ignorant of the facts about the interrogations.

The only reason she denied it is because she knows Obama won't release the documents showing her role in all of this. To do so could spell disaster for the agenda he wants to pass.

What a load of malarky and way to skew the facts.

Pelosi along with other members of the MINORITY were told about the POSSIBLE use of enhanced interrogation techniques.

They informed the Administration that if these were ever to be used they wanted to know about it.

The Administration told them nothing...OBVIOUSLY.

Moreover with Nancy and the other Democrats being in the extreme minority at that time what the hell did you expect them to do?

Even if the Administration did tell them what they were doing to what prisoners it is all CLASSIFIED. She could not even tell her bloody staff or risk going to Federal Prison ...and you can bet your can that the Bush Administration would have done that.

But seriously, lets ignore the people who committed these international war crimes and instead focus on what Nancy was not told.

Thanks for playing

If she is found beyond a doubt of knowing that this was going she should be dumped along with Bush and other republicans for this. We are the United states of america, we are above this sort of thing.

SG, something is veddy veddy strange...this is the second time this week that I have agreed with you.

j/k

Of course she is lying. The CIA memo of 9/4/2002 proves it:

But even that statement is at odds with the official record of the briefings recorded in the CIA memo dated to Sept. 4, 2002. That memo says Pelosi received a "briefing on EITs (enhanced interrogation techniques), including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on authorities and a description of particular EITs that had been employed."

Umm, no, there was no "possible use" mentioned...they were informed that it had ALREADY been utilized. Nice try...not.

Want to skew more facts?
Skew this one, kkthx.

And thank you for playing.
