So out of all the books, comics, TV shows, movies and musical theatre out there, who or what is your favourite ALIEN?

Mine is Dr Who, I admit to the occasional dream of taking off in the TARDIS and exploring the Doctor, ahem** I mean the universe with the Doctor (last 2 new handsome regenerations obviously)

Here is the latest episdoe Easter special if anyone wants to watch it

Most of these are typically two-dimensional screen characters, all except the good Doctor.

The best fictional aliens are on the page, not the screen.

Iaian M. Banks does brilliant aliens. Three of my favourites are

Bora Horza Gobuchul in Consider Phlebas

Cheradenine Zakalwe in Use of Weapons and

The Affront (an entire species) in Excession.

Some other favourite literary aliens of mine:

Estraven in The Left Hand of Darkness

Gaea in Titan

The Cloud in The Black Cloud - a truly alien being.

Rasheverak in Childhood's End

Jeriba Shigan in Enemy Mine

The psychedelia-inducing, blind, winged aliens in Light on the Sound

Literary SF contains an infinity of wonders beyond the dreams of Hollywood.

I liked Darth Maul from Star Wars.

And I love the Aliens in the Aliens films. I saw a full size model of one in a shop - it was very tempting, but I managed to stop myself.

Oh, and Caprica 6 from Battlestar Galactica.

Oh flip, there go my credentials.

Doesn't being 'born' in another galaxy make her an alien toaster, though?

Who or what is your favourite Alien fictional character???

Solaris

... a Polish science fiction novel by Stanisław Lem (1921-2006), published in Warsaw in 1961 and is his best known work in English translation.

While the narration suggests that humans study the planet, the opposite seems to be the case, where the titular alien planet, Solaris, examines the secret and often guilty thoughts of human beings. These secrets and thoughts are given physical form on the space station which hovers above the planet. The novel is pervaded by a powerful and moving poetic sense of remoteness and loneliness.

I loved Jeff Bridges in "starman". Great movie and yes I did cry at the end when he left!
And I have been to meteor crater where it was filmed which is pretty cool.

the predator hands down, a badass hunter alien with dreadlocks, a nifty shoulder canon along with other cool gadgets, and a sense of ethics on who it hunts.
