Just a follow up on this thread.

More and more ammo is now available.
9mm, 45 and 40 are still bare. They come in once a week and last 24 to 48 hours at the most.

223 and 308 are still pretty hard to find if they come in at all.

22 long rifle is still slim, but you can get it now.

Most everything else seems to be on the shelf around Wichita anyways.

.223 and .308 is thin here, got decent amounts of .30-06 glad I went
that route instead of the super common types.

Affordable .22 LR is gone at wal-mart but some gunshops have it a
little higher, and I loaded up an ammo can.

Certain types of pistol ammo are almost ghost like, namely .357 mag,
and .44 mag, 9mm is very low too.

Me and a friend stopped at 3 gunstores and 6 wal-marts over a
90 mile drive back from a small town gun show.

Can't even find 22lr, longs, or shorts in my area. Single boxes or bricks.

If you need .22 LR you can get it online from outdoor america store
in OKC, but most pistol ammo is no go.

My point is that this thread was created to say "ammo is low because the government is hording it"

walmart still has lots of ammo, so do countless other locatiosn i could name

just because they dont carry a specific really hard to find anyways kind of ammo doesn't mean conspiracy

it means out of 100,000 people, only about 3 are looking for it. So its dumb to carry it in large quantities.

You are right the government is not hording all types of ammo,
but they are burning thru a few calibers a great deal.

Namely .223 and 9mm.

Some is for military some has been for police training.

But...that is not the largest buyer at this time.

What has happened is this.

In a 90 day timespan, enough guns were sold to outfit the entire
chinese and indian militaries.

90 day time frame, massive gun sales

When those ppl bought guns, they bought ammo too, and most of them
are going to the range or the pasture to make sure the gun works,
and they can hit the broad side of the barn.

Some ppl are taking it a step further.

Learning to shoot the rifleman's quarter mile - The appleseed project

There is a concerned and angry citizenry that is arming itself to the teeth,
and they are doing things that have not been seen in a LONG while.

Make fun of dumb rednecks all you want, but when you see the
majority of medal of honor winners came from the south you
need to add a few things up.

They got guns, they know how to use them, and they are not
afraid of dying if they think thy are defending their ppl.

The MIAC report happened because they are seeing a huge surge
in militia like activity, and TPTB are a little concerned.

We got ppl hanging congressmen in effigy.

We got union thugs beating protestors to the ground.

We got ppl waving the damn gadsden flag around.

If you do a little research for the last time all these events happened
it got pretty damn ugly.

If things keep spiraling down the toilet bowl I am headed for the
hills and sitting this party out, because it isn't my cup of tea.

Make plans to get the hell out of the way, because once the dam
breaks your screwed if your in the way.

The gun seizures during Katrina will look like a picnic.

Good Luck to you all !

Well dude.

Fact : the government continues wars that drain a lot of the ammo supplies.
Fact : the government is anti-gun and they just nominated to the supreme court a radical anti-second amendment (Sotomayor)
Fact : the government OWNS ALL AMMO PRODUCTION FACILITIES and almost no money have been put in those to be renovated/improved since the end of WW2.

So yes, the government is anti-guns and is responsable for a lot of problems about ammo supplies to the general population. Private ammo companies should be allowed to be built. Every state should have it's own ammo production factory. But of course the feds won't allow this since they want all the powers in their hands.

What? Where do you get your facts?

Private Ammo companies are ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Alliant Techsystems Inc. (NYSE:ATK) is a publicly traded company that makes Federal, American Eagle, CCI, Speer-Gold dot and Blazer.

The Olin Corporation (NYSE:OLN) Makes Winchester AMMO (all varieties)

Olin also manages producition at Lake City for the DoD.

Sorry don't mean to slam, but some of those "facts" couldn't be further from the truth.

Sotamayor might be accurate though. Good thing we just got a pro personal defense ruling out of the Supreme Court.
