Looks alot like a hybrid between a Mirage and a F-16.
May have to dig into this one.

Thanks for posting.

Now that you mention that Jet, I seem to remember reading an article awhile back mentioning that.
Wasn't it rejected for another fighter or something other?

I'm not too familiar with Chinese aircraft (other then the Russian stuff they have). Anyone know if this can seriously compete with the F-16, or is it trumpt up as a rival when in reality it can't compete?

Just by the looks of its design it says simplicity but deadly. It probably could compete with the F-16 but why? Isnt the f-16 a lil outdated now.

The F-16 is outdated - for the US at least. It's still an amazingly effective aircraft. The problem I see with this aircraft is that avionics and other tech stuff are more important now then pure flying prowess. I guess my real question should have been does it have modern computing power, radar ect ect.

F-16 Block Series 50/52/60 are incredible.
Makes these aircraft very viable, formidable, and capable against other higher Generation aircraft.

I don't know if this was directed at me or not, but my question was on the XiaoLong, not the F-16.

And yes, I agree - the F-16 is a major ass kicker.

Actually meant for XPhiles, sorry.
As for the XiaoLong, IMHO, its going to be relatively hard to measure how this fighter would add up to the F-16.
I have seen no test data, it has no combat experience, I have no no comparison data, etc., so to me, it would be seriously difficult to say how this aircraft would measure up objectively.

no problemo

I was thinking the same thing - I was just wondering if someone might know something I didn't.

Those look like F-2a's to me.

And this bit of news on Pakistan and what they are or have done with the F-16's we sold them. Probably why I mentioned it looked like a hybrid Mirage and F-16?

Great find on the pictures and links Seekerof ...

From reading the links there seems to been lots of delays on the develoment of both FC-1 "Chao Qi" / JF-17 Thunder. Maybe this is why they both look old school lol ...... Im sure technology will keep them afloat for awhile though.

To me the f-16 is like an old classic muscle car that is all jacked up, ready to kick some A. I really like the painted ones that get on the cover of Combat Flight Magazine
.
