Nervous Russia stomps dissent

www.csmonitor.com

Economic angst is prompting more rallies Sunday. How will the Kremlin react?

The collapse of oil prices and the Russian ruble have ignited relatively small protests against the government here. But reaction from the Kremlin has been fast and furious.

Nationwide rallies planned for Sunday are expected to draw even larger crowds and will be the next major test of a Russian leadership increasingly anxious over dissent.

"On its face it seems ridiculous to see thousands of cops beating up a handful of peaceful demonstrators; logic dictates that they ought to ignore us," says Eduard Limonov, leader of the banned leftist National Bolshevik Party. "But the authorities fear opposition and ... [as the economic crisis grows] they have good reason for that. They read the FSB [security police] reports and they know that we are very well organized and ready to lead in the case of mass social unrest."

Seems like Russia is headed to some bigger protests and possible riots...

I support people everywhere protesting in large amounts. I want to see it happen in the west as well.
Isn't Russia in the process of creating that bill that would criminalize any form of protest or criticism of the government? If so, they need to make their presence known loud and fast!

I said that the Russian economy was going south fast and that Russia would soon be incapable of spending money on all its military plans. The Russian people are going to go back to the days of the long bread lines while their leaders dine on caviar. They have a right to protest and demand that their leaders look after its people as well. If this world economy keeps going south there will be no countries fighting each other because they will be too busy fighting against their own people.

Alright lets dissect the news here to clear up some confusion.

Firstable take a note of who organized and takes part in these protests. The majority of them are organized by the National Bolshevik Party. For those of you who don't know what it is - it is a hybrid Communist-Nazi party composed of militant skinheads and similar nutjobs. They protest everything the Russian government does and this is not the first protest.

Here get a load of these neo-Nazi freaks:

Haha good one. The party was banned for a reason. These militant nutjobs are calling for an armed revolution, and want to create a Nazi-Socialist State in Russia, and to expell and pursecute all non-ethnic Russians. Yeah - they are also calling for a war against the US. Still think they are peaceful?

Their nutjob leader Limonov is a known racist and fascist. He has been previously arrested for stockpiling weapons and heavy munitions. This is the same guy who has deep ties with Serbian war criminals. In fact he himself participated in a Serbian sniper attack raid against civilians during the seige of Sarajevo.

And "thousands of cops"? LMAO. Why not tens of millions? Yes imagine that - 50,000 cops showed up to beat up 1,000 protestors. That's what 50 cops per protestor? I bet the thousands of cops summoned some helicopter gunships and tanks too just to make sore. Hell - the whole Russian army is after these poor bastards.

This article describes how these poor nationalist-fascists are not allowed to protests, but it fails to provide any background information on who they are.

"But the authorities fear opposition."

Of course they fear opposition - if this opposition is composed of a fascist party preaching ethnical supremacy. Regular Russians fear the National Bolsheviks, and for a good reason.

This protest has little to do with economy. These idiots hold these protests every other week for the last 6 or so years, with a different theme every time. Most often they hold them just for foreign press coverege. They do not follow federal laws, and do not obtain permits for these protests. This is why the police is disbanding them. I have witnesses these rallies before, and there is no point to them - they are meant to cause public disturbance.

This article is a load of horse crap, and so is the Christian Science Monitor.

HAHAHAHA - please. Imagine the US white supremacists saying the same thing about the FBI.

Ready to lead mass social unrest? The only thing these idiots are leading, is a procession to the nearest pub to get drunk and stoned off their asses, and then go beat up some foreigners.

Even if they are neo-nazi clowns calling for ethnical supremacy and armed socialist revolution?

Well, that's what you get if you depend on just one commodity. The rest of the oil-producing world will suffer similar disturbances.

This is the thread about the bill: www.abovetopsecret.com...

which would make protest treason if passed.

The people need to protest and make their voices heard, especially they need to speak up loudly about what directions they wish to see their countries go in, and which ones they will resist non-stop and defeat.

Nearly every developed Western country requires some sort of approval or permit from local authorities to hold massive organized rallies of any sort. This is what laws are for - to assure that those who want to voice their opinion do so in a socially responsible and non-destructrive matter that does not disturb the wellfare of the rest of the population. An alternative would be anarchy.

One of the reasons why the Russian government doesn't always grant permits to these clowns, is because their rallies tend to get out of control pretty fast. Many skinheads show up drunk or stoned, and you can guess what can insue combined with nationalistic and racist slogans and chanting. Plus the Nationalist Bolsheviks's protests can attract mass civil disturbance if the likes of Anti-Fa show up. To regular Russian people these protests are a major nuissance.

No you cannot get arrested based only on that - the Russian Law Code does not allow it, nor do the Russian courts. What one can get arrested for, is if he or she inquires for a permit and the authorities discover that there is an outstanding arrest warrant for the person. That has happened before, especially with Nationalist Bolsheviks - and that is hardly surprising given the violance that they preach and the fact that they tend to ignore laws.

If you ignore laws and treat your community as if it were an anarchy, you will get into trouble in every country in the world, including the US.

No it would not make peaceful protest treason.

Where are you getting that? The article mentions nothing of the sort. It is just speculation by the media - speculation which is not backed up by any facts or by reality. Did you read the Russian version of the bill?

Third World War will be an internal affair.
Why not?
They are all smarter now. It's much cheaper and you don't need heavy military equipment.
Right on the streets and in unmortaged homes.
