Oh dear! Thats a bit hit and miss Isn't it? Israel may have nuclear weapons but it Isn't threatening anyone with them is it?
Iran are actively seeking a nuclear programme and at the same time are calling for Israel to be wiped off the map. You don't have to have a PHD in astrophysics to work out who would be in the crosshairs if Iran ever did get their hands on a nuclear weapon.

Oh, I get it. Splitting hairs is an academic exercise that really has little practicality. You sound like a lawyer. I think we've all seen our legal system go tits up over technicalities and this particular behavior pattern of considering nuance and hair splitting.

Ask yourself this. If this radical Islamic country is even trying to obtain nuclear technology, and it has made numerous threats, and it refuses inspections, then do you not see a problem with this?

Without any evidence of attack, Hitler could have been stopped cold in 1938, and even early in 1939. But since no one had any "proof" of his intent, he was allowed to continue to pursue his production objectives.

If he had been addressed in 1939, there may have been as many as 500,000 casualties. Is 500K casualties good? Of course not. But by not stopping things when they began to smell, 52,000,000 people died over the next five years. Which is better? 500,000 deaths today, or 52,000,000 spread over the next five years?

That's what nitpicking will get you. That's what waiting for the perfect time will get you. That's what linear thinking will get you.

I hear your concerns , and its not like i`m on a bullhorn for Ahmadinejad , i was just playing devils advocate . Listening to people make throw away statements like "nuke em"" bomb em all & and let Allah sort em out " ".... glass car park " etc etc it really upset me.
There have been some very dangerous precedents set over the last 8 years . Extraordinary rendition / suspension of Habeas Corpus and the preemptive doctrine , whats to stop other nations following suite ?

Is it too much to expect every nation to follow the same rule of law ?

Iran isnt the one threatening to invade everyone read the words, its shouting to keep the worlds eyes on iran so if they get sneak attacked it wont be brushed under the carpet. if we are attaacked, when we are attacked .........

I honestly think they would! You have to remember from everything that has been said and the way Iran seems to be baiting America to attack it, it is clear that old "Dinnerjacket" Isn't playing with a full deck! Iran could benefit hugely from America who is holding out the hand of friendship and offering it's help yet all Iran wants to do is antagonise the west. Dinnerjacket is clearly insane.
As for the second part of your question. Not only has it not been debunked but, If I'm right, he's threatened Israel more than once.

I think the best approach to Iran is to let our Europeans FRIENDS know that we will for the time being no longer worry about Iran. That is up to them to confront Iran. Iran is a bigger threat to Europe than us at this moment. I think we should then turn around and let Iran know of our intentions to lay back and give them this warning, if you Iran threaten us, harass or attack our ships, sponsor any terrorism against us we will be willing to respond in kind with everything we have if necessary. I think we should then tell Israel that they have the right to defend themselves but that if they go into Iran they are on their own. If we did this I am sure that the Europeans would take a different approach to Iran and Israel wouldn't have to worry about Iran's threat. As it is now Europe is using us to be the bad guys while they continue to do business as usual with Iran. It is time for them to take the lead. Iran with nukes could affect Europe more than us at this time.

Wow! I wish you were president. Thats the problem Isn't it. Since when has America ever kept their nose out of other peoples business? America see's itself as the rulers of the earth- or earths police force. Sometimes its a good thing, usually its bad! Its simply not in their nature to take a back seat and live and let live. If you can't do the bombing then nobody else can either, which is evident the way that America refuses to let Israel defend itself for fear of upsetting the other wealthy arab nations, especially Saudi Arabia, who are lining Bush and his cohorts pockets with gold!

Bomb a country that hasn't attacked Israel.. thats great more murders.. remember you can't fight fire with fire.. if Israel goes thru with this the repuccussions would be severe for Israel.. Israel is surround by Arab nations and Russia would back Iran...even if the U.S got involved.. so essentially what you are calling for is a nuclear war... and the chances of Israel being wiped off the map would be considerably higher if Israel attacks.. No I don't think you get it. America is in the biggest financial crisis since WW2 and the two conflicts we have been involved in have contributed greatly. Now you want a 3rd conflict in the near east just to teach big mouth Ahmenijhad a lesson? You can't be serious at all.

If it means life and death for Israel then go ahead and bomb them but I think america needs to keep out of it. We simply can't afford more conflicts without solid evidence that Iran posses nuclear weapons and is ready to use them. The evidence must be 100% convincing this time.

Go ahead Israel and defend yourself. You certainly have the firepower and waiting for a "green light" from washington is probably unnecessary. Why wait any longer? Are you ready to accept responsibility for whatever happens next? I doubt it!

Friend, there's no such thing as 100% certainty until it's too late. And most of our costs have been oriented toward setting up the infrastructure in these two countries. Believe me, we won't be rebuilding a cotton-picking thing in Iran.

Right now our military is getting lots of practical war experience, we are gaining thousands of battle tested NCO's, we are getting real-world feedback on our weapons systems, and we are already in the neighborhood.

I'll be perfectly honest. Our generals, unlike Israeli generals, don't know their trade. Our generals are administrators and logistic specialists which we could get from Wal-Mart or UPS. Our generals can't lead a battle. They aren't anywhere near a battlefield. All they can do is point. A military is supposed to be a war machine, which means quick, overwhelming force of arms. No niceties, no such thing as the term "collateral damage." The military is not a police force, nation builders, ambassadors of goodwill, and certainly not to be tasked with winning hearts and minds. You want their hearts and minds, you grab 'em by the gonads, and you have everything you need.

If we had performed in a military manner, immediately after the fall of the Iraqi military, we would have disengaged and maneuvered in the distant desert, ready to strike if necessary.

(Same thing in Iran. Properly outfitted and supported by air, 20,000 men can run amok throughout the large country of Iran, and make the 10,000 of Zenophone look like amateur hour.)

This roaming army in the distant Iraqi desert would certainly have threatened Syria, and scared the crap out of Iran. For good reason.

No, Israel can do it. Russia won't lift a finger because it will be over before anyone has a 100% proof that Israel is going to do anything. Besides, any nuclear weapons targeting Iran, properly dispatched, cannot be traced back to any country of origin. After all, it could have been an in-country nuclear accident! Or Sunni versus Shia, or Moderates versus fundamentalists. You don't have to take them out head on. Sneak around where no one is looking and take the back of their head out.

Did you notice a while back when a number of nuclear weapons were being transported across the country, and accidentally discovered? Could un-inventoried weapons be launched from a tramp steamer in the Indian Ocean? And then abandoned? You better believe it. Who fired these nukes? Take your pick. But as you seem to determine is the defining criteria, no one could prove this with 100% certainty.

Besides, if there is truth in the Old and New Testaments, then Israel is here to stay. No matter what enemies array themselves against them, no matter how powerful. I know I'll get crap over that, but it's as plain spoken as day.

Bush asking how he and his administration can claim to be Christian while doing things that are in polar opposition to the teachings of their Messiah.
