I didn't think we would get pop ups if we were logged in?

The thing is, they arent popups. They are on page ads that expand when rolled over.

I've not been seeing those... however, that particular firm and their surveys are in increasingly difficult to stop-out menace online.

Several advertisers have been spotted attaching code for that pop-up/under to their banner ads... essentially riding piggy-back on other ads, and paying the advertiser a small fee to do so.

The ad network, Advertising.com, is one network that was spotting adding these pop-ups to some ads, and since they were unable to guarantee we'd never get one, we stopped using their network.

Also, reports are beginning to surface that these pop-ups/unders may be within malware and adware that may infect unprotected PC computers (I'm on a Mac).

If you think you can track down a specific ad that launches the pop, we'll get on it.

Are you sure that popup ad was not generated by the second window you show in your screen shot?
(The Distributive Law - Lear...)

positive, it only pops up on ATS and nowhere else.

And I've indicated we're doing nothing that would launch such a pop-up.

I noticed a small secondary tab in your IE window... that may indicate something else is running. This pop-up is known to be attached to malware of various types, and some adware/malware can launch new browser windows and/or tabs... that small blank tab looks suspicious (but I'm not a Windows user).

Without some kind of indication as to a commonality of other banners being displayed on the page, it's not possible to troubleshoot if it's being errantly launched by an ad banner.

That second tab is indicative of a new, empty tab that Explorer keeps open

I don't get this pop-up, so I'm suspecting a browser hijacker or malware.

That's a standard thing on Internet Explorer. You click that one when you want a new tab. (Edit: As Badge also pointed out.)

On a side note. I've had plenty of Spyware/Malware infections (not ATS related) shooting up pop-ups without a single browser even open. Can I suggest "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware"? It's free and very effective.

actually, in the latest versions of internet explorer, that little tab is there so you can click on it and open a new browser tab without opening a new window.

I told him that when I posted about this same ad. I guess he doesn't believe me.
