The UK looks to cut out minority legal rights - ie. Sharia Law

www.brusselsjournal.com

The cross-party Joint Committee on Human Rights has said that there should be a new Bill of Rights (or Bill of rights and Freedoms) for the United Kingdom, which will apply to both citizens and non-citizens....

To aid the government’s attempt to reunify the British citizenry through notions of “shared values,” etc., having split the country into various unrelated groups through the earlier promotion of it disastrous policy of “multiculturalism”....

About time in my opinion, a double standard legal system cannot be functional in the long run.
Lets just hope they don't meddle with any of the basic rights of the Brits when they are changing it all around.

Isn't this because of all the Muslims who moved out of the Middle East to get away from the Sharia Law who then... Set up Sharia Law in England? So if they rape and stone a woman to death they just whip out the "Sharia Law we're allowed to do it!" and don't get in trouble?

England needs to line them up and ask "Will you follow Our Laws or Your Laws" and keep the ones who answer England's laws and ship the ones who say Sharia Law back to ME.

Joke...

Two Muslims get off the boat in America. They make a deal. In ten years they would meet back there and see who was the most Americanized.
So ten years pass and they meet.

"What have you been up to?"

"Well I've been working my white collar job, taking my child in the minivan to soccer practice and going to baseball games. How about you?"

"Shut up towel head!"

While they are at it they should write some laws to protect women from honor killings, and laws that trigger deportation for those who choose to engage in these types of barbaric practices.

its just civil matters that two parties agree on (that they want dealt with sharia law)

Business disputes and mariage (low key)

only an idiot would think that Honor killing would be dealt with by sharia law (i wont get into the whole Honor killing and culture thing as its a pain on ATS)
In the UK, murder and criminal offences have always been delt with by british law.

no offence

disastrous policy of “multiculturalism”....

That has always been my feeling, as well, about the rise of multi-culturalism (so-called diversity) in the U.S. , where no group assimilates any more.

Not to be confused with multi-ethnicity (the melting pot) which is what helps make a nation strong.

Its not only Muslims that bring 'their' laws into the UK. The 'non-assimilation' of foreign nationals who live long term in this country is a larger problem. While i do agree that the Muslim 'minority' does have way too much influence, i think that there are larger problems to deal with first.

For one, ANY school where English is not the first spoken language should be either shut down or its pupils (and parents??) made to take intensive lessons in English. I find that one of the most divisive factors is the fact that everybody speaks a different language. People tend to live in communities where language is a common factor.

Secondly, there should be a set of minimum rules for entry into the UK, i.e. basic knowledge of where the foreign national will be living, what is expected of them from our society, where our laws apply to them. The current citizenship ceremony is a load of bs. A step in the right direction, but not far enough. We need to look to Australia, where immigrants will have to live for up to 3 months in a 'camp' while their application is processed. This would deter the 'benefit seekers' as there is a chance that they will not succeed.

Thirdly, we need to PROMOTE being British, and what that means. At the moment, the majority of immigrants' views on the UK is that they will receive generous benefits / handouts. This needs to be scrapped. If you come here, you should have to WORK for what you want to get, no housing associations waiting lists, nothing. Only minimum food / clothing / heating vouchers. Not cash / cheques.

This path is difficult to take due to the PC types who blatantly refuse to even debate the crumbling and fragmented society in this country. I am only twentysomething and i am already despairing for the future generations that are sprawling out of schools across the UK. I cannot relate to the 'hip-hop' culture that seems to be taking hold in the youth of today (god, i sound like my grandad...) - this for me is a bigger problem....

As the world runs out of oil, the economic pressures of the third world will ratchet up effort of the young populations of the third world to migrate to the developed world, which will be the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe. Stricter immigration laws need to be developed, and immigrants should not be given assistance. It is the survival of your kids or theirs.

Immigrant groups that bring special problems, such as honor killings, need to be dealt with in specific ways to prevent these types of barbaric practices.

The reason that the third world wants to migrate to the first world is because the first world has created superior cultures which are far more successful, where people not only enjoy far greater material success, but also far greater freedoms from oppression and barbaric practices. It is the future of your children that you are protecting by establishing stricter immigration policies, and be increasing deportation of those who refuse to join the existing culture of the host nation.

To pretend that people do not have a right to protect themselves against passive aggressive invasion is blatant discrimination.

By this I take it your talking about biblical law ?

Yes I fully agree with you

Why dont we go all the way and declare that anyone who believes their religious laws are the word of god be deported back to wherever they came from.

The muslims go back to the middle east

the jews go to israel

the indians to india

the christians to the vatican city

and so on

the gypsies can do what the hell they like as long as they dont curse me

Then i can live peacefully in the UK with the prospect of renting a cheap flat in refurbished church or mosque, and have to learn how to make my own chicken tikka masala.

And just think of all the freed up tv channels whoopee more TV shopping and mindless soap operas

Probably only catholics should all have to move back to Vatican City, protestants might be able to claim their religion is native born, or else all those of religious beliefs that are Middle Eastern born should all go back to the Middle East, and only the agnostics, atheist, some agnostics, and of course the Wiccans and numerous other older earth religions that have claims of home grown origin should stay in Britain.

Native American religions might experience a large come back in the U.S.. This might be a good idea, although in Mexico this might be a problem.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Seriously, we can't buy coastal property in Mexico, only lease at unrealistic rates, and then have to deal with crooked local governments to develop the land, why shouldn't our immigration laws be just as strict as our neighbors.

God forbid that we should treat their hypocrisy with an equal regard. Our immigration laws, and treatment of immigrants should reflect those of the countries were the immigrants come from.

So much for the seat of natural law that most republics have used in the past. Good luck Great Britain...you might just lose the 'Great' and win Religious Conglomerate Britain. I feel for you folks. This is NOT going to be a fun time!!

People over estimate how many muslims there are, almost anywhere apart from the major cities has hardly any. Groups like the BNP are using this islamophobia to their advantage and turn the general population against muslims.

Dude I really believe this is a wind up, there are creepy lurkers behind the looneys running the UK.

I get the impression they want us fighting over shiit like this, it is a distraction and seems to be a means to whatever ends they want.

Why could anyone want civil unrest?

Perhaps so they can quell it, and introduce martial law?

The UK is currently a bedlam of daily nightmare news.

day in day out were told to be scared of this that or the other .

terrorists, pedophiles, knife crime, drug killings, insane weather, global warming, religious extremism, no immigration laws the list goes on and on.

I know this is starting to look like david icke or alex jones, but it's just what I see around me and happens to be what they warned us about years ago.

Todays news is the UFO sightings and incredibly my mate called really concerned about the news that russia was ready to nuke poland.

British people have no one els to blame other than themselves, they ar Mentally Funking Lazy !

they are more concerend in whats happening in the next installment of their soap operas (which are on 6 days a week) than whats going on in the worls around them.

The standard of the biggest selling newspapers they read speaks volumes, homer simpson would feel very at home in the UK.

The fabric of society appears to be deliberately undermined in order for the british Homers to shout "WHY DOESNT SOMEONE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT "

TERRORISTS ?
what funking terrorists ?

The IRA were bombing the shiit out of the Uk for what seemed like a lifetime with thousands killed . Was there any attempt to hold anyone without charge ? no there damned well wasnt , Did we need ID cards ? no we funking didnt.

Did the averege brit start becoming afraid of catholics ? no we damned well never.

So why are we afraid of some islamic extremists? were not but our goverment seems to want us to be afraid.

From what people from Britain post here, doesn't sound to me like this is propaganda. Maybe where you are at, you don't see any problems, but that doesn't discount all the news reports of things like honor killings that are going on all over Europe, and in Canada and the U.S. as well.

I would say the media is doing more to keep these occurrences hidden, and that they don't received nearly enough attention. Research the subject on the web if you really want to know what is going on.

I saw an article about this a while ago, and I wasn't so impressed. They listed some of the rights we would get, and it sounded like a socialist charter, it was about our right to free dental care and schooling and such. This was mostly fine by me, but what made me angry, was there was no mention of the rights we should really be talking about, like freedom of speech, and freedom against unreasonable search and seizure, and so on.
