Russia, US to sign nuclear pact

au.news.yahoo.com

Russia and the United States will sign a long-awaited civilian nuclear cooperation pact on Tuesday, the last full day of Vladimir Putin's presidency, a Russian official says.

The deal will allow the former Cold War foes to widen cooperation in areas such as a uranium bank and the storage of nuclear materials and let them work together on advanced reactor programs.

Actually since the end of the Cold War I heard about a nuclear pact from time to time. Anyone has a record of it? Or are these nuclear pacts merely a political tool to smoothen the tension a bit from time to time....

It would seem that they have already figured out at least how to eliminate some of it......by blowing up 4600 tons of it in the form of depleted uranium munitions. Hey cool, the shell that keeps on killing!

Shoudn't the US be shunning a pact with Russia considering the Russians are helping the Iranians build an atomic power station in Iran? Wasn't it only a few short months ago when America was concerned about the possibility of Iran using nuclear weapons against Isreal? Hmmm interesting...

Why, if Russia wasn't helping Iran then we would have nothing to go after them for. We should be thanking Russia for giving us the opportunity to persue a war with Iran. (/sarcasm)

I really don't think that America needs a firm excuse like that to go to war with Iran... all the US has to do is start a witch-hunt like they did with Iraq and PRESTO! Instant war....
