www.msnbc.msn.com...

His impact will be so sorely missed that it's fair to say we all just got relatively smarter... all of us can now move up a notch.

His passing is to speculative fiction as Ray Charles was to music.

A sad day.

I am not too familiar with his work. But if he wrote '2001' then he's a genius! But 90 is a pretty decent age to die, so you should at least be happy he lived a long life to produce all that work.

A sad day indeed.
Great loss for the world.
Great gain for Heaven, he must be bombarding God with questions.

He was one of my favourite authors.
His contributions to humanity are great. He sparked our imaginations as children and opened our minds to a whole new universe
It is very sad indeed but the best way to honor him is to truly understand what he tried to teach us.
We are tiny compared to the universe. We, as a race are just children, learning to crawl. Yet our actions can have concequences that are greater then any of us.
This is our blessing, this is our curse.
We have been given the power of choice and we must take the right path.

May his soul rest in peace and may the ones who loved him and the ones he loved have the strength and courage to cope with their loss.
He wil be missed.
