Ok,so,what are your favourite anti war type songs?

mine has to be "United States by Sieze the Day. That's my favourite anti war song (it's just very well sung, and has some powerful lyrics)

My favourite anti establishment type song is Adam Freeland- We Want Your Soul. It's a fantastic breaks track.

your cell phone, your wallet
your time, your ideas
no bar code, no party
no ID, no beers
your bankcard, your licence
your thoughts, your fears
no SIM card, no disco
no photo? not here!
your blood, your sweat
your passions, your regrets
your profits, your time off
your fashions, your sex
your pills, your grass
your tits, your ass
your laughs, your balls
we want it all
we want your soul
your cash, your house
your phone, your life
we want your sou
tell us your habits
your fads, your fears
give us your address
your shoe size, your years
your digits, your plans
your number, your eyes
your schedule, your desktop
your details, your life
show us, your children
your photos, your home
here! take credit
take insurance, take a loan
get a job, get a pension
get a hair cut, get a suit
play the lottery, play football
play the field, snort some toot
we'll show you shrinks
we'll show you spooks
we'll buy you drinks
throw away your books
we'll sell you crap
we'll charge you tax
wanna buy big guns?
we'll front the cash
we want your soul
your cash, your house
your phone, your life
we want your soul
your thoughts, your emotions
your love, your dreams
your chequebook
your essence, your sweat
your screams
your security, your sobriety
your innocence, your society
your self, your place
your distance, your space

Bill Hicks: "go back to bed America your government is in control again. here, watch this! shut up! you are free to do as we tell you"
here's boy bands, here's makkers
here's Britney, here's cola
here's pizza, here's tv
here's some rock and some rolla
watch commercials, more commercials
watch Jerry, not Oprah
buy a better life, from the comfort of your sofa
here's popcorn
here's magazines
here's milkshakes
here's blue jeans
here's padded bras
here's armpit wax
here's football shirts
here's baseball caps
here's live talk shows
here's video games
here's cola light
here's ten more lanes
here's filter tips
here's collagen lips
here's all night malls
here's plastic hips
we want your soul
your cash, your house
your phone, your life
we want your soul
Bill Hicks: "go back to bed America your government is in control again here
here's American gladiators watch this shut up here's fifty-six channels of it watch these pituitary retards bang their f****** skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom here you go America you are free to do as we tell you you are free to do as we tell you"
no hippies, no strays
no drop outs, no gays
no lefties, loonies
no opinions, no way
no thinkers, no teachers
no facts, no freaks
no skaters, no tweakers
no truth, no sleep
here's popcorn
here's magazines
here's milkshakes
here's blue jeans
here's padded bras
here's armpit wax
here's football shirts
here's baseball caps
here's very very very very very very very very very very very very long infomercials

(I hope i've not missed any swears)

(you can hear both these songs and more on the Peace not war dukebox.

So,with that, get yer lyrics/music sites out for the funkiest, lighter waving peace vigil this side of utopia.

*Flicks Open a Zippo*

Hmmm... Mine are mainly some older songs (I grew up with a lot of 60's Music)...and one newer(ish) one... Here are just a few lyrics for the ones I like....

War - Liam Titcomb
"What is right, and what is wrong
In the 60's they sang protest songs
Now the silence of the opposition is deafening
And it makes me wonder
Yeah, it makes me wonder

What if they had a war and nobody came
May sound quite naive, but I'm asking all the same
The old will ask the young to fight
A mother tells a child goodbye"

Vietnam Song - Country Joe and the Fish
Well come on all of you big strong men
Uncle Sam needs your help again
he got himself in a terrible jam
way down yonder in Vietnam,
put down your books and pick up a gun
we're gunna have a whole lotta fun.

and its 1,2,3 what are we fightin for?
don't ask me i don't give a dam, the next stop is Vietnam,
and its 5,6,7 open up the pearly gates.
Well there aint no time to wonder why...
WHOPEE we're all gunna die.

now come on mothers throughout the land
pack your boys off to vietnam,
come on fathers don't hesitate
send your sons off before its too late
be the first one on your block
to have your boy come home in a box

Eve of Destruction - Barry McGuire
Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say
Can’t you feel the fears I’m feelin’ today?
If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away
There’ll be no one to save, with the world in a grave
[Take a look around ya boy, it's bound to scare ya boy]

And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.

Yeah, my blood’s so mad feels like coagulatin’
I’m sitting here just contemplatin’
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation.
Handful of senators don’t pass legislation
And marches alone can’t bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin’
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin’

Good Topic!!

PS. And mostly anything Bob Dylan (Times they are a changin', Blowin' in the Wind...etc)

The Billy bragg one on that link is pretty good too. "It's all about the price of oil"
voices on the radio
tell us that we're going to war
those brave men and women in uniform
they want to know what they're fighting for
the generals want to hear the end game
the allies won't approve the plan
but the oil men in the white house
they just don't give a damn

it's all about the price of oil
it's all about the price of oil
don't give me no ****
about blood, sweat, tears and toil
it's all about the price of oil
now I ain't no fan of Saddam Hussein
oh, please don't get me wrong
if it's freeing the Iraqi people youe after
then why have we waited so long
why didn't we sort this out last time
was he less evil than he is now
the stock market holds the answer
to why him, why here, why now

Saddam killed his own people
just like general Pinochet
and once upon a time both these evil men
were supported by the U.S.A.
and whisper it, even Bin Laden
once drank from America's cup
just like that election down in Florida
this s*** doesn't all add up
it's all about the price of oil
use it's all about the price of oil
use it's all about the price of oil
don't give me no ****
about blood, sweat, tears and toil
it's all about the price of oil

Another one of my favourites is Hey Sandy by Harvey Andrews. About a girl who was shot and killed at a student demo.

Bad Religion - let them eat war
Bad Religion - let them eat war

there's a prophet on a mountain and he's making up dinner
with long division and a riding crop
anybody can feel like a winner
when it's served up piping hot

but the people aren't looking for a handout
they're America's working corps
can this be what they voted for?

let them eat war
that's how to ration the poor
let them eat war

there's an urgent need to feed
declining pride

from the force to the union shops
the war economy is making new jobs
but the people who benefit most
are breaking bread with their benevolent hosts

who never stole from the rich to give to the poor
all they ever gave to them was a war
and a foreign enemy to deplore

let them eat war
that's how to ration the poor
let them eat war

there's an urgent need to feed
declining pride

we've got to kill 'em and eat 'em
before they reach for their checks
squeeze some blue collars
let them bleed from their necks
seize a few dollars from the people who sweat
cause it's freedom or debt and they won't question it
at a job site the boss is god like
conditioned workhorses park at a stoplight
seasoned vets with their feet in nets
a stones throw away from a rock fight
but not tonight, feed ‘em death

here comes another ration (feed them death)
cause they're the finest in the nation (feed them death)
when there's nothing left to feed them
when it's freedom or it's death

let them eat war
that's how to ration the poor
let them eat war

there's an urgent need to feed

An old song, but quite apt for today's climate.

Lyrics

Terrorists and saboteurs,
Each and every one of us.
Hiding in shadows, persons unknown.

The Casualties - unknown soldier

Oh oh oh

Joey is out of school, didn't #ing ask for much
couldn't get a job, the marines his last hope
down at the frontline, with a gun not a toy
kill many men, not asking what for

oh oh oh

Joey's family, the comrades next to him
die one by one, his luck is running out
Joey wrote back home, his parents unemployed
the rich is #ing laughing, profits from the war

oh oh oh

Joey is off to die, for another senseless war
no arms, no legs - his mother cries at home
Joey wears the flag, so proud to fight for us
and for the government, that doesn't give a #

oh oh oh

Joey is off to die, for another senseless war
no arms, no legs - his mother cries at home
Joey wears the flag, so proud to fight for us
and for the government, that doesn't give a #

Marching to the left, marching to the right
marching on the frontline, what a #ing sight
Marching to the left, marching to the right
marching on the frontline, what a way to die

Joey, Joey, Joey tell me what you see now
Joey, Joey, Joey Please come back home now

Marching to the left, marching to the right

Marching to the left, marching to the right
marching on the frontline, what a way to die
