I found it interesting that they were also cracking down on song lyrics and vulgarity in general. Is anyone else as surprised as me that China wasn't *already* cracking down on porn?

Umm. Media Birth control?

Maybe to stifle people's sex drives in china through the repression of sexual expression (via the media)of varrying levels of lewdness.

Never really heard of any...fine Chinese porn.... so I'm not missing out on anything. The Japanese sensor theirs to the point it's not worth watching.

I'm sure they've got the equivalent of Sears Roebucks catalogues and Prime Time television they can still use in China.

If they touch porn in America I'll take up arms. :w:

Actually, Chinese porn is a much enjoyed product for generation. The long history of Chinese porn stretches back through several dynasties. Though it was censored in the "Cultural Revolution" and the "Destruction of the Four Olds", it was reborn with socialist realism in the latter half of the 20th century. Today Chinese porn exhibits ideas from the New Culture Movement and is highly prized throughout the Eastern and Western world.
