I currently live in Northern Connecticut in the United States, it's a beautiful place. Well, I somehow regressed this memory and didnt ask this question when I finally joined ATS, and became a 'junkie', like I knew I would

Sorry, My question is if anyone knows of anything or has heard of anything currently happening up this way. Last summer, I believe mid July, maybe August, I was eating dinner on my back porch. My boyfriend and I walked around to the front yard facing Rt 202 after becoming irritated, and curios by the especially loud noises. There were a whole bunch of tanks and huge vechiles- Similar to the ones construction crews use at night - only larger and more equipt.

2 things odd about this- 1. The number of these machines that were following one another 2. The road they were headed up is a very small connector road used mainly by residents, and if followed leads you out into some pretty deserted, open spaces of land.
I wish I had a date of the evening- I will doublecheck with my 'ex'.
Any advise or anything that I can look into would be greatly appreciated, I googled some things and searched CT home sites, but have found little- Thanks my fellow 'ATSers'

No way I think is talking about Connecticut.

As for what you saw. My guess is it is a secret government project...most likely a building of a underground base or work on the bunkers for the government in case of nuclear war.

But for all we know they were going the wrong way and when they got to the end of that road they turned right back around.

Watch the Rocks-
Please forgive me for not clarifying, I was sketchy about giving details at first that I left out one of the most important details- Litchfield county, Connecticut, USA- I'll edit it - I'm sorry, and thanks .

Haha! It probably was a wrong turn, thats what Im hoping for. It just seemed so interesting that they used this particulary small road(with such a large number of vehicles) which leads out into a lot of undeveloped areas. I just want to keep my family safe!

Yeah I wouldn't worry too much about it unless there is a biological outbreak and the zombies over run the soldiers. If that happens don't go in the basement use a machete and a shotgun and run for the water.

It sounds to me like you saw the National Guard or Reserves convoying for their yearly maneuvers. Once a year they have to load up all their equipment and head off to a base to do their two weeks of mandatory training. I used to see this up north all the time. They normally will assemble at an armory somewhere; form a convoy, then drive to some remote base. When they do this, they use the normal expressways just like everyone else.
Normally such a convoy would include a lot of humvee’s and duce-and-a-halfs, but they can also include artillery pieces and all manor of strange looking construction/repair/support equipment, such as:

The one thing in your story that seems odd is that you mention tanks. Are you certain they were tanks, or were they construction/maintenance vehicles. Tanks are tough on roads; normally they have to put special guards on the tracks to keep them from ripping up cement, or asphalt. I have seen a tank drive in a city without them, but its certainly not the normal thing to do, and still required a police escort as they are wider then most single lane roads.

Without sounding like a skeptic if you really wanted to know arn`t you in the best place to find out.

Why don`t you just take a trip up the road and find out.

If someone in military stops you/shoots you then you`ll know

Thanks so much for all of the great ideas! I have gone up and around that area, but it is way too large in size for me to see anything of importance. But, I haven't seen anything unusual up that way recently and/or last year.
I say tanks because the vehicles were so big and different looking that it is hard to describe their actual appearance. There were many different kinds of the vehicles that they all blend together in my memory (sorry, I burnt that out years ago
)
They did look construction-like for the most part, but bigger and more equipt, not like the picture defcon posted (although, i thank you for that because it gave me a reference)
The location would be Sawyer Hill Rd. area in New Milford & Kent CT, but mainly north east of there. Im a little technologically challenged, and google earth hasnt really been helpful, mainly because the quality of the picture has never come out very good. But, I will retry Google- not that I necisarily believe it would 'tell the truth', so to speak, who knows whoes hiding what nowadays- you know?

What would you class as unusual. or of importance. The area is large therefore it`s possible they just went passed you and didn`t stop until leaving say on the other side.

I say tanks because the vehicles were so big and different looking that it is hard to describe their actual appearance.

So why is your lack of knowledge leading you to believe they are odd, if you don`t know what they were.

What about colors construction vehicles usually red, orange, yellow.Military would be green, camo, or black.Hippies would be all colors and Aliens would glow in the dark.

I will retry Google- not that I necessarily believe it would 'tell the truth', so to speak, who knows whoes hiding what nowadays- you know?

Well google shows all known secret military govt installations and building`s as there isn`t any need to hide them.Even supper supper secret bases can be found.

I see by the map that the area is wooded. Is the section of the road where you were observing wooded?

The camo 'pattern' on military vehicles moving in convoy in less than ideal light would make them a little difficult to identify. There are recovery vehicles that look a lot like tanks, and bridging equipment looks a lot like a tank. Periodically, a National Guard convoy will take a different route simply to mix things up.

And for those who think it's a simple matter of driving down the road to see what they did: if they want to conceal something, you won't find it.

I wouldn't worry about any increased troop movement in your area.

My parents know this town very well, considering they grew up here and are both approaching 50. I showed them this image on google earth to double check if it was unusual. They're both in awe, and have no clue what it is, only that it looks like a 'race track'. Any ideas?

Looks to me like a driver training test track. That would account for large number of vehicles you saw. The US Army like this type of course to force the drivers to use more efficient techniques when driving tactical vehicles. The Hummer is hard to drive from a visibility standpoint.

Thanks BearAmerica for the insight!
Im in the boondocks. I even have a couple of farms close by, which are still run by good old-fashoined farmers. The road they took is right off the main road, but it is very obscure, narrow and straight uphill. This section of land is west and a little north of me in a very undeveloped area (obviously
)

Sorry but there are people who`s hobby is visiting Secret know and possible unknown Secret base all over the world.

Goin down the road is the best way to find them, writting on here and using google earth is just pathetic.ATS is only good if people in the area are here and have visited the placenoticed something unusual and use this place to collate the info.

As for the map i don`t see anything other than a dirt bike track and haven`t read anything to indicate anything other than the author has seen some vehicles that she dosn`t know what they are going into an area you no thing about.

As for her parents in "AWE have no clue but looks like a race track".Well looking at the Scale of the area you could search on foot within a day if your fit or a few days if your a lard butt.

I would say that the vehicles seen were used to clear the patch and build the track

A dirt bike track is a possibilty. An offroad driver trainng track, such as I used in the US Army, is also a possibility.

When our DOD wants to something, it will be hidden for a while. The other possibility is that it is a dirt bike track constructed by US Army Engineer company. For training purposes, the DOD periodically embarks on civil projects.

But I do agree, the only way to know it is, is to go to the site and look at it. Observe it in use, gather evidence for proof, take witnesses.

You're right nescafe, I do need to go 'check it out' myself. And I will make it one of my summer priorities, but my time constraints keep me from doing anything like that right away (especially with a 5yr old).

I do know that there is a dirt bike track up that way, but when you compare the size of the area to the size of the farms and the size of my house its easy to see that this area is quite large (too large to be a simple dirtbike track- at least the one Im thinking of & know is up there), and appears in a location Im not sure I'd be able to find unless I spent a whole day or two looking (and that would be with my 'fit' body not my 'lard ass'

Im also going to put an e-mail in to our resident 'town crier', so to speak, to see if he has any first hand knowledge. I hear that the town officials cringe when they hear his name because of his notorious reputation. He may have some idea, or I may be able to get him riled up, we'll see.
