The US Government will not allow aircraft with modern FADEC (electronically controlled combustion) be sold second hand, much less exported.

This means F-16/F-18/F-14/F-15 etc will not be available second hand.

Globalplanesearch is a good site which leads to others:

BTW if you have some military jets and want to set up a private air force Fiji will provide you with free hangerage and no landing fees

But you can still get older era jets. I have seen a guy that had an old navy Panther.

sy.gunson,
May I humbly suggest you pass on this idea to Helen Clark or Winston Peters. It might be a way for them to dispose of those troublesome A-4K's and MB-339's, and at the same time contribute to Sth Pacific security. In turn we could pass on our F-111's in a couple of years time now that neither of us apparently need them. Hmm.. seems to be a trend developing here?

Actually I just remembered that a few years back I saw a photo in a magazine of a privately sourced F-16 that was undergoing restoration. As I recall it was much like the ebay F-18 bought at a scrap auction, and had been a write off after a crash landing. From memory it was a fair way through the rebuild process and was in California I think. Haven't heard or thought much of it since. Does anyone else know of this or where abouts it is? I am positive that it was being rebuilt to airworthy and the owner had somehow convinced the authorities to allow it.

Military aircraft are exported to other countries so I don't know about the export part
