Announcing the AbovePolitics.com 2007 Elections for President of the United States!

-attention-
The Candadacy Declaration Form Is Up And Running!
Declare Your Candadacy For President Of The United States.

Declare Your Run For The White House
(open to members only, join now)

-original post-

Given the political fallout from President Bush's speech to the nation two days ago, it's now clear that more than ever before, the United States doesn't simply need change, it needs a hero. Someone who can rise above the politics, unite the divided nation, take charge of a tattered foreign policy, rebuild international relations, and restore confidence.

To kick-off the relaunch of AboveTopSecret.com's political discussion board as AbovePolitics.com we're running the U.S. Presidential elections one year early, and any member can toss their hat into the ring in an effort to become the hero that is sorely needed.

Beginning in February 2007, any member of ATS can announce their candidacy for President of the United States, and let our members know about your platform. To keep things simple, we've limited party selection to these six:
Democrats
Republicans
Green
Libertarian
Reform
Socialist

Candidacy declarations will close on March 15, 2007.

During the remainder of March and April, this is your chance to refine your platform and "press the flesh" by engaging members on AbovePolitics.com, AboveTopSecret.com, and BelowTopSecret.com. Each candidate will be offered equal advertising time with 728x90 pixel banners at the top of AbovePolitics.com.

Throughout May and June we'll conduct debates specific to the candidates within each party. Here is your chance to shine and show everyone your plan for a brighter future.

In [b[July, we'll hold primary elections in each party to select the final party candidate for President of the United States.

And then, leading up to November of 2007, this is when everything will heat up with multiple debates, podcast interviews, and more. For our final six candidates and their selected Vice President running mates, this will be a high pressure, high-stakes run for the most important office in the free world.

Finally, voting will take place during the first full Monday - Sunday week of November (11-4 through 11-11), and the AbovePolitics.com President of the United States will be elected.

Our newly elected President and Vice President team will be awarded their own dedicated forum on AbovePolitics.com (and "Politics" menu item on the ATS content archive) where they will become the site's official political commentators on the events leading up to the actual election in 2008 and more. The team will be the only two able to start new threads in the forum (though anyone can reply), publish articles to the main site archive, and share advertising revenue from their own Google adsense ads.

So polish your platform. Practice your baby-kissing. Develop a killer smile. Brush up on foreign policy.

We need a hero.

Do you sleep? Honestly, when?

This is brilliant!. I can only imagine the level of discussion we are going to see when this gets down to the nitty gritty.

To the future of AbovePolitics!

I think Alex Jones should run for President.

How about the "Whigs party" are they able to be a part of all of this?

Well maybe I'll just stick with another viable party that is alive and active today.

If I had enough time to spare I'd run...

This is a very cool idea.

Honestly after readin the thread about PTS getting a new name, I though something like this would be what was mentioned.

I will definately be participating, though one thing though, what if someone is a Democratic Socialist or a mixture of more than one of the mentioned, do they have to campaign as one name, or can they add it to there political name, like running under the Democratic party, but saying they are Democratic Socialist?

Sounds fun and now finally I have a place to launder all that money, I'magonna buy me a candidate.

Can I run as an Anarchist? My platform would be the un-platform based on tithing and individual mutualism...just kidding I'm totally full of it.

Still sounds fun though.

Can mods run or are they forbidden, if they can I gots an idea fer a ticket.

I'll be lookig forward to following this. Sounds very interesting. There used to be a certain hillbilly biker around here I could've gotten behind. Probably way too dangerous to be in front of him.

And I guess the Guns and Dope Party won't be fielding a candidate. Too bad. I still think Robert Anton Wilson has some of the most rational opinions about, well, everything.

Hm, well I guess you're right on that, I guess I see most people of a party as all the same.

I'd assume that all participating would start the process of choosing there running mate now, so as to prepare for when they announce there candidacy.

With the total failure of the Bush regime and our present precarious perch on the precipice of the abyss and the Democratics paralysis and inability to offer any pertinant direction I believe that America is ready for its first socialist president. As such, I humbly cast fate to the wind and enter the race to save America.

rewriting everything and going for a none religous goverment

edit part of my stance

Vote me Bodrul
for a

1. A Religous free goverment

2. A goverment that wont bow to religous groups on ethical reasons when it comes to science

3. A goverment that doesnt bow to anyone just to please them
