IBF cruiserweight champion James Toney was arrested Tuesday and charged with failing to pay more than $100,000 in child support for his 10-year-old
daughter.
Toney was ordered in December 1999 to pay $583.29 a week. Though he made some payments, he missed many and owes $103,370.39, said Sage Eastman, a
spokesman for the attorney general's office.
A warrant for Toney's arrest was issued May 15 following a criminal investigation by the state attorney general's office. Toney was arrested at his
California home, Eastman said.
Toney and his promoter, Dan Goosen, could not be reached for comment.
