Hey all, we just got a new boy pug puppy and are having trouble coming up with a name - he is very well mannered for a puppy and likes to just sit there and watch you. With that in mind we were thinking an older name might fit him well.

Here are the current forerunners - please either vote for one of these or make a suggestion!

Edgar (as in Edgar Allan Pug)
Mr. Darcy
Simon (not in honor of the inesteemable Mr. Gray, but just because it sounds smarty-pants - no offense)

Thanks for your help!

Well, because I have a thing for Marid Audran (and George Alec Effinger) then I would have to say you name him Kmuzu.

Can you post a picture? Sometimes it helps to be able to see the pet before you give it a name. Without a pic, I think George or Maximillian sounds good.

Just don't name that Pug, what I named my dog. My dogs name is Yabastaad. I don't know why, but whenever I talk to my dog, my neighbors all look at me funny.
Like if I say - "Come here Yabastaad." or "Be quiet Yabastaad", or "You better not make a mess Yabastaad", the neighbors all act like I'm cursin' and stuff. I don't get it.
Nope, I wouldn't name your Pug Yabastaad. But Oscar is a good name.

How 'bout Pookie? Hermann? Rubin? Schnubbly? Or go the easy route and name him Goobie! (That's what our cat ended up being even though he does have a real name - Goobie just stuck)

HA! Awesome, I was wondering if anyone got my Buyadeen reference. 3 books was not enough.

Pugsley was his greatgrandmother and she recently passed away, so while it is a great name, it's not the right name. I have taken some pics but they are stil on my digital camera - I'll try to load them up tonight.

Churchill was also in the running for us, or Winston. Man, pugs rock!

The first time I saw the name I was like
great pick!

For anyone else who reads scifi but doesn't know. If you want amazing cyberpunk set in the middle east that was totally ahead of it's time, look up George Alec Effinger. It's a shame he passed away. Those three books I refuse to get rid of.

As for names...I also knew a pug named Bugs.

Well this is becoming a family supplied post as everyone in my family is offering
possible names.

So far the youngest suggested: "Tugg" or " Tugg's "

The little Lady suggest: "Sherman"

And I lean towards: "Neuman"

My Cousin suggested: "Pedro" (he's learning spanish, can you tell?)

My brother says you can't go wrong with: "Bubba"

And thank God no one else has any comments...

Mr. Moseby.

I don't know why. It's just funny to name your dog something with a mr. in it.

If your pug is a breed-typical, stout, solid male ...

GENERAL

Otherwise ...

FRANK

Hope this helps.

AWESOME! Anytime he does anything annoying I can make a fist and squint my eyes and say, in a low venom filled voice "Neuman..."

(Seinfeld reference)
