i came across this article, i havent heard of this so thought id share it

A group of ten Icelandic citizens filed yesterday at the Office of the State’s Police Chief criminal charges against George H.W. Bush, former U.S. President, who is expected in Iceland this evening at the invitation of Icelands’s President Olafur R. Grimsson.

The group accuses former President Bush for participation in War crimes, crimes against humanity, crimes against the peace, and crimes against internationally protected persons. It demands that former President Bush be detained by the Icelandic authorities and investigation on these charges. Should the investigation conclude that legal proceedings against him are warranted, the group requests that he be tried before an Icelandic court or extradited to an international criminal tribunal which possesses the requisite jurisdiction to deal with his case. Icelandic courts are, under international law, qualified to try individuals suspected of having committed international crimes.

George H.W. Bush is charged of initiating a War of aggression against Panama in 1989, in breach of international law and the UN Charter, constituting a crime against the peace, and of ordering the kidnapping of Panama’s President Noriega in violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes Against Internationally Protected Persons. George H.W. Bush is furthermore charged for his command responsibility for the multiple War crimes committed by US forces in the Gulf War in 1991, including the policy of deliberately bombing civilian targets and the massacre of soldiers hors combat. His command responsibility for these crimes is equivalent to those of other heads of states who have been charged, indicted and convicted for international crimes, including torture, War crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. George H.W. Bush is also charged for inducing an uprising of Kurds and Shi’ites in Iraq during the Gulf War and then ordering US forces to withhold aid from those who risked the uprising, thus leaving unarmed uprising masses unprotected against Saddam Hussein’s brutal forces.

now that would be an extremely interesting situation. what if daddy bush were to be kidnapped in iceland, flown to a secret location in an unmarked plane and tortured to find out what HIS involvement in international terrorism is and what future plans there are for more.

... this can only mean ONE THING...

A very large terror attack is about to strike Iceland because there are people out there who hate their freedoms. Like the freedom to charge someone with a war crime for example.

I'm sure the 4 or 5 muslims who live in Iceland will be blamed for it. And Bushes approval ratings in Iceland will skyrocket and one of the two of them will be elected president in Iceland's next election.

I also am pretty sure that it will happen on some sort of date that has some sort of historical signiffigance to the Bush family but no one will make the connection except for those outrageous conspiracy theorists that the Bushes are unfairly slandered by to no end.

Iceland should prepare itself accordingly.. buying as much duct tape and plastic sheeting as possible, also any surplus elementary school desks which they can hide under. As I understand it, those desks provide some sort of protection from nuclear attacks... I have one myself between the doorframe of my bathroom in case my city is attacked with nukes during an earthquake... one can never be too carefull.

If you have plans to visit Iceland anytime soon, I suggest you cancel them and take a trip instead to Greenland.. again from what I've heard.. its more green and there is less ice there anyways.. you'll have a better time, and avoid being caught in a freedom haters terror attack that is almost certainly going to kill people who do not own shares in weapons manufacturing companies.. check out the stats, you'll see I'm right. However, if you DO OWN shares in companies that make weapons, you could probably go to Iceland and just before the attack is about to launched, you're pager, cell phone or instant messaging system will notify you of the attacks time and location and allow you to relocate to some place in Iceland that will be unaffected by the attack directly.

Oh and of course, by co-incidence there will be during the time that the attack takes place, a law enforcement and first responders exercise taking place simultainiously and they will surely be more then adequately prepared to deal with the aftermath of the attack, as it seems that countries are almost always running these types of exercises because every single time an attack has taken place there has been an exercise in place to deal with just such an attack... the only explanation is that they must ALWAYS be running these exercises.. I mean it would be just too much of a co-incidence otherwise of course.

Poor poor Iceland. Well at least soon they'll have more added security just like we do... they'll be safe from any future attacks after the one that is imminent.

This sounds like those fanatics in Germany who wanted Rumsfeld tried for war crimes when he attended some conference there.

that flopped big time and I would tend to think this will also flop for these 10 Wackos.

Nothing to fear. Baby Bush will never allow it.

I think these "undesirables" should stay at home and the less travel they do, the better. One never knows......

I like the part where it says massacre of the Iraqi soldiers during the Gulf war.

If he qualifies for these charges then why shouldnt he be charged with War Crimes? Is there some clause where War Crimes can only be brought against those deemed "enemies" by the United States?

Both George Bush Snr and his son qualify for war crimes charges and they should be charged with them. If they enter a country that has charged them with that crime then they should detain them. Failing that they should be barred from ever setting foot in that nation again.

Ronishia, you are being dishonest.

Your headline is false and misleading, more befitting of the Weekly World News or the National Inquirer than of ATS. Ten people deciding, asd a PR stunt, to "file charges" against a former president is nowhere near the same as an Icelandic court actually ruling on such a charge and actually charging anyone with anything.

If you don't know the difference between the two, then you should.

Shame!

Funny how the West's socialists love to pick on the big, nasty USA while happily cosying up to such loveable nations as China.

www.faluninfo.net...

Let us not forget that if we left it to socialist bubbleheads like these 10 people, the World we live in and the lives we lead in it would be a lot more unpleasant.

Ah and it's only the socialists that are cozying up with the Chinese, isnt it?

Big, bad America has given China Most Favoured Nation status for a few years now.
