Although this thread is nearly two decades old, I should mention that the Lockheed Martin X-44 experimental flying wing and RQ-170 Sentinel tactical reconnaissance flying wing are only the most recent flying wings to have been revealed to the public. On the B-2, I should emphasize that even though the ATB competition that led to the B-2 was kept secret until the 1980 presidential election season, the B-2 program only remained partly secret following the announcement in 1981 of Northrop as the winner of the ATB competition because the USAF released an artist's conception of the B-2 prior to the rollout of the B-2 in November 1988. The RQ-180 strategic reconnaissance UAV could be the newest military USAF plane to be declassified, since it now fills the niche occupied by the SR-71 and which the Quartz/AARS project would have occupied.
