F-16s scrambled in DC

Several news agencies are reporting on a small aircraft that entered the restricted airspace around the Whitehouse today.

Staff from Congress were seen running out of the Capitol, after the alert was given just before noon (1600GMT).

A number of other government buildings, including the Treasury department and the Supreme Court, told staff to move to safer locations.

The Secret Service allowed staff to return to their offices minutes later.

F-16 fighters jets were scrambled and headed off the single-engine aircraft.

It's amzing how quick the US responds to small aircraft threats, yet on 9-11, NORAD mysteriously was told to stand down. They intercepted planes regularly and consistently before 9-11, and they intercepted them after
9-11, odd that on the day we needed them the most, they were told to stand down eh? Yeah...
