Hey all,
Hope everyone’s been doin good.

Wanted to share my newest Kat with you all

His name is Dracarus or Drayco for short. He’s a 10 month old African Serval.
And he’s already huge! He’s supposed to reach full grown at 2 years old.
Anyone else have one of these amazing cats?!

He's gorgeous!
Is that a domesticated breed? Or do you have to have a special permit for him?

Does he get along with the other cat?

when he's big enough to eat you, he's too big. Just a quick FYI. And remember, you only have to be faster than the slowest person around.

Reminds me of a pair of tourists last year. Came down and rented the house next door to a friend's beach house and my wife and I are walking along and they ask us if we've seen a cat running around and show us a picture. It's a bobcat! I told her, that's a bobcat. She speaks a real thick European accent, I'm thinking Polish, so it was real hard to understand her. But apparently it got lose and ran off on the beach. I don't know if they ever saw it again.

In Canada you can own them in a few provinces, like mine in Ontario.
I don’t need an exotic license for him here.
But they are banned in a lot of states in the USA.

Tebet are somewhat domesticated.
He uses his litter box.
Doesn’t try to kill me or the other animals lol.
But he will never be like a house cat

Bobcats are beautiful!
I wanted to get a Lynx, but couldn’t find a breeder anywhere in Canada.

I have a Savannah cat, which is the offspring of a Serval and a domestic cat.
So was somewhat familiar with the breed.
Then I saw someone had one for sale about 12 hours away.
So made the journey to go get Drayco.

He’s a good boy. But will never be a lap cat lol

Does that mean that he can't just lounge around the front porch, under a bush or up a tree in your front yard? Can you trust him on his own outside, like I can trust my house cats to come home? I had a Siamese cat, when I was a kid, that used to go after and attack neighborhood dogs that wondered in our yard. She was very territorial!

No!
He will never be able to walk around on his own outside.
Someone would probably shoot him, or try to steal him.

He can be walked on a harness or out in an enclosure.
But never free roam

He is gorgeous!
Such long legs!

I love the big ears.

He get along with Nova? Or do they each need their own room?

I don’t trust them together enough to let them stay together yet.
So they both have their own bedrooms.

We got him a month ago.
It’s a process but hopefully soon they will be able to share a room together

Considering a Serval Cat? Know the Risks of Having One.

10 Risks of Having a Serval Cat

As explained above, this isn’t the superman version of a pet cat.

The serval is a wild animal, and for this reason several states have prohibited their ownership or required specific licenses to contain one.

You must be a dedicated cat lover, because servals require a lot of care. Most folks can't handle the job, but it sounds like you've done your homework. Good luck. I hear they are good companions when they are properly cared for.

I just have a regular cat who thinks he's a big cat but your actual big cat is beautiful. My question is do you declaw those? My cat is not declawed and he is very good at not scratching anything but I don't know much about your breed, do they have retractable claws?

Also do they walk on a harness pretty well or is it a struggle to get them going because my cat will not walk anywhere once you put a harness and leash on him. He just sits there and looks upset hehe. Even if I try and bribe him with treats. Once he gets going though he will walk a few steps then sit down then walk a bit more.
